Example Layouts?

I don't remember seeing a number of example layouts anywhere. What you might be thinking of is the example collections on the wiki, at the bottom of the Collections page. But maybe there's a thread on the forum where people were submitting their suggestions which I happen to have missed. If not, perhaps it would be good to start such a list of suggestions here and transport it over to the wiki if it becomes useful.

No. I don't think you imagined anything, other than maybe the number of examples. I seem to remember there being a few (3-5...maybe as many as six or seven), but not nearly enough for me. I was tempted to start a thread asking for just that (maybe even a wiki would be good). I think we need to have forum for "How Do You Use Logos Bible Software?" Maybe some sub categories for "personal study," "sermon preparation," "speaking engagement/presentation," "Sunday School class," "academic studies," "counseling," etc...etc...etc. After reading some lengthy discussions on security and others listing one complaint after another (bugs...I wish logos had this or that...etc.) (which I have no real problem with...we need an outlet), but I think the "how to" would foster more usage of the Lord's Word and the myriad of supporting resources. Sorry to ramble...just an [I] or two.

On a related (and much more recent) note, I'm 95% positive that I was in a recent thread earlier today that had two links, one describing an Exegetical Study Layout for the OT and another for the NT...and now I can't find that thread either. Here's my reading layout for scholarly books (as opposed to devotional reading; i.e., books with footnotes, where I'll want to do highlighting and take notes). Highlighting panel on the left. PowerLookup on the right for quick access to the footnotes. The central tile has four stacked panels. First is a Bible. Second is the book I'm reading. Third is another view onto the book I'm reading (basically so I can keep it scrolled down to the bibliography section and look up the book titles whenever the present author refers to some other author by name and year only). Fourth is my Notes file specific to this book, for my annotations. Right now it's set to a particular book I'm working my way through, but once I finish that I'll simply update the layout to whatever next book I tackle.

I created layouts for OT and NT Exegesis based on Mark's tutorial video:

Here's the NT one:

Left tile contains four tabs: My Passage Guide (customized as you can see), My Exegetical Guide (customized to contain just Grammars and Word by Word sections), Cited By tool, Information tool.

Upper middle tile contains two tabs for my top two English Bibles

Lower middle tile contains two tabs: Greek NT (NA27) and Text Comparison tool.

Right tile contains two tabs for my top two Greek lexicons.

Both English Bibles, Greek NT, Text Comparison, and Cited By tool are on Link Set A.

(Logos is crashing at the moment when I try to load my OT one, so I can't post it just yet. But it's essentially the same, just BHS instead of NA27, and Hebrew lexicons instead of Greek ones. I'm updating to Beta 5 in the hopes that this crash is one of the ones recently fixed.)

Did you see the suggestion (made by others) to use Google for searching, rather than the built in search facility. Frame your Google search like this:

<search terms> site:community.logos.com

Google does a better job of indexing the forums than the internal search engine.

And did you also see my suggestion about how to limit your Google search to just one particular forum? Include the breadcrumb trail to the forum from the top of the page in your search, e.g., for this one it would be "Home > Logos 4"

Of course, your search terms would not have those angle brackets around them and could be as complex as you want, using Google's rich Boolean syntax, curly brackets for grouping precedence, | for OR, juxtaposition for AND, and quotes for phrases. Here's an example:

perera {"example layouts" | "layout examples"} "Home > Logos 4" site:community.logos.com

This would find all posts where I had mentioned either the phrase "example layouts" or the phrase "layout examples" in the Logos 4 forum. It's a contrived example, but you get the idea.

This thread included a suggested "Workspace" for L3 for both the OT and NT - could this be what you remembered?
