BUG: Font changed to symbol font on its own

Hello

I hope I am posting this in the correct place.

I did an update a few days ago to Logos Bible Software 9.14 SR-1 9.14.0.0026.

I have several layouts. In one of them this morning I added this title: The NET Bible First Edition Notes. I synced it with the other books I had open on letter E. At first, the scrolling was a verse off, but that stopped when I made the font on The NET Bible First Edition Notes smaller.

I have a notebook of books I may want to look for. So, I copied the name of one of the books referenced in The NET Bible First Edition Notes, clicked the notes tab and pasted the name of the book I copied into my notebook, no problem.

When I switched back to The NET Bible First Edition Notes, I saw this for Matthew 1:20:

Logos Pic 1

The rest of the verses were fine, as shown here:

Logos Pic 2

I had these other titles open:

  1. Bible Knowledge Commentary
  2. The NET Bible
  3. NASB95
  4. Notes
  5. Reading Plan: 7 Days on Jesus' Birth
  6. Logos Help

Like I said, I have several layouts, some with probably too many books and "stuff" open, but I've never seen this before. I did the usual:

  • Opened the The NET Bible First Edition Notes on it's own (not in a saved layout)
  • Restarted Logos

Does anyone know what's up with the fonts here?

Thanks for any help.

I don't have a clue. Thought; begin your title with "BUG:" for more attention from FL.

It is in that it remains every time I open and close the Net Bible First Edition Notes. I have not seen it happen in any other place yet.

Have you tried powering off and on your computer?

I finally got around to rebooting my computer, it made no difference. My laptop specs are here:

OS Name     Microsoft Windows 10 Home
    Version   21H1
    OS build  19043.1766
    Version    10.0.19043 Build 19043
    System Type   x64-based PC
    Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M
    Adapter RAM   (1,073,741,824) bytes
    Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz   2.59 GHz
    Installed RAM  16.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    Logos Version 9D66FEC4204

Now it is happening to random verses in other resources. First it was just the NET bible referenced above, now it is showing in the NASB5 (my default) as well.

Here I am using a theological topic study. I clicked the yellow highlight near the bottom of the left pane, "Open 18 passages in NASB95" (my default). In the list that opens, John 17:6 and all the other verses are fine. But Philippians 2:9–11 is in green Webdings:

Devs, please look into this. Give me troubleshooting steps, I'll give you whatever info you need because this needs to be fixed.

    Looking forward to your replies!!

These forums are primarily peer-to-peer assistance although some FL staff checks in frequently. I assume that you have checked your default fonts in program settings. The next option would be to go to the information panel in the library for this resource and:

    1. remove resource from this device
    2. restart the application
    3. wait for the indexing to complete
    4. download the resource again
    5. wait for the indexing to complete
    6. verify that the font issue has been corrected

    @MJ. Smith:

You are correct, I first tried different fonts then reset all my program settings to default, no difference. I will try the steps you have give next.

Thanks very much for the reply!

I tried these steps and unfortunately the issue remains. I've opened an issue with Logos support. They asked for screenshots, I sent them.

    Thanks for your help.

Are you using the processor GPU or the NVidia adapter for Logos?  The latter appears to be low on memory at 1 GB and switching back to the processor GPU (via the NVidia Control Panel) may help.

It appears I only have the 1 dedicated NVIDIA GPU. I don't see another listed in device manager or the NVIDIA control panel. You're right, 1GB on the GPU is mighty low, however cpu-z and HWiNFO report it as have 3GB(still not much!). Not sure what's going on with that, maybe I need a new driver? Anyway, that's a different discussion...

My font problem was solved with direction from Logos tech support [:)]

The problem was with the highlighting. When I removed a Webdings character from a custom hightlight I made in the highlighter tool, the affected text returned to normal.
I like to get creative with custom highlights. In two of the highlights I created, I had used one (and only one) Webdings character.

It was in the highlight tool under Insert Text > Text Before:

    Logos Highlighter

    This is the character:

     Logos Webding

This was the only place I used the Webdings font. I have used this highlight before and it worked no problem.
It was nice to have that character to draw attention to the verse I was highlighting, but I guess Webdings doesn't want to play nice. [^o)]

At any rate, problem solved. Posting this to help someone else if needed.

    Thanks for all the input!!

You're incredibly patient. So happy that your problem was solved. Perhaps customer service can suggest a way that Webdings can "play nice" with the software.
