Re-installing to Windows 7

I've had to reinstall Windows 7 (64-bit Ultimate) after a hard drive failure. Prior to the failure, Logos was running just fine. (I think it was Logos 8, but I'm not positive.) Now I'm trying to reinstall Logos and I cannot find an installer that will work. I downloaded installers from here:

I tried the last stable version for Windows 7 of Logos 8.11 and 7.19 SR-1. In both cases, I get the error:

Setup was unable to download a required file

I also recovered a backed up LogosSetup.exe file from my old hard drive and tried that. It wanted me to sign into FaithLife to continue. But when I entered my email and password (the same that I use to sign in here) it said:

Unable to connect

I'm not sure what to try from here. Any ideas?

Bill, just opinion, but is there any way to scrounge around for funds for a new cheap PC? I assume that's why you're on Windows 7. I ran on W7/L7 for years, but the new Windows is more secure, and the new Logos is more operable (L9 is free; L10 will likely be free late Feb23).

The missing file I think someone will remember it. But not known if indeed you'll get past that.

To reassure you, the most likely problem is at Faithlife's end (not you), so today would be a fantastic day to contact support at Faithlife and let them walk through the issue with you. I'm sure that they can get you up and running like the wind (or as windy as Win 7 at EOL can run anyway)\

I appreciate the thought, but money's not the issue. I absolutely despise Windows 10. I'm not willing to make my entire computing experience miserable just to run Logos.

I'm smiling! That's why I stayed on W7. But I switched over to macOS this year ... you probably don't want that either.

Bro he probably paid Big Time for that Win7 Pro Ultimate license, and (I don't blame him a bit) wants to protect his investment. However, Win 10/11 are certainly more secure.... though not as stable IMHO.

Yas Bill! Come to the Dark Side (Mac).... I run Logos on my Android phone, iPad, Win 11 laptops (two of them), and a 2014 MacBook Pro. I am gradually being coerced into the Apple miasma of IOS and MacOS.

Your best bet, at this point, is to utilize the web app.

Do you know that version of Logos this tried to install?

If below 7.19 I think you would get the unable to connect message due to some security changes sometime ago on Faithlife servers.

Did you try the suggestion "a forum reply by Faithlife included Microsoft TLS 1.2 update link along with Unsupported & NOT recommended Logos 8.11 msi links." The msi link is in that forum thread and it should install Logos 8.11 without any other downloads.

They won't because Logos 8 is unsupported.
