Why are published books slow to appear?
Both these books have been published and are stuck "in production". Why would that be the case when the conversion is supposedly automatic?

The answer may be in your question. It is "automatic." Sometimes there are production issues and there isn't someone "minding the store." Other times there are technical reasons which cause delays.

I will keep the following vague.
I used to go to a church. When I went to prayer warrior night, I would be the first there. I would say 'hi' to the janitor. Pushing his cart and cleaning, he would gravely say the same back.
Maybe a year later he was arrested for a very public murder; it made the paper, page 1.
He spent some years in a mental institution, was said to be cured and released to be among us again.
He showed no signs of issues when I originally interfaced with him at the church.

Can confidently hope our cleaning crew is safe. Less serious, at joining, I got the quiet briefing on the pastor protection ladies ... against overly attracted other ladies.
More seriously, we're a couple days shy of West Freeway (Ft Worth) COC's unfortunate brush with death ... 3 year anniversary. Never forget the picture of 2 members, guns drawn.
