Remote failure.

For the last two or three services our tech person has been able to start the service using her iPad as a remote to change the slides. However after a few changes the system has stopped working and she has to revert to the arrows on the desktop.
Also the option to use local wifi for the remote is grated out on the iMac.

I have had problems controlling the slides using a ipad several times.
The media team starts by controlling from the presentation computer. Then when it my time to make my presentation I use the Ipad. Seems as if it is one or the other.

This is an issue nearly every single week for me. iPad, Android Tablet, and Android phone have all been tried.
One week it's rock solid and then the next week by the time I try to switch from the first slide to the second it's not working at all and times out.
To say the Proclaim Remote app is "unreliable", on both platforms, is an understatement.

You might try completely removing and reinstalling the remote app on your tablet or phone. The performance of the remote app seems to degrade over time. It slowly begins using more and more of the available system resources until it becomes unusable just as you are describing. I have a dedicated iPad that is used for remote controlling the slides every week. It occasionally begins acting exactly as has been described in this thread, while another identical iPad, used only occasionally for remote control, will work perfectly in its place. The solution, so far, is to completely remove the remote app, including all stored data. The iPad will again work reliably after the app is reinstalled. This cycle seems to repeat every eight to twelve months.

Thanks Michael
We have a number of older folks who cannot read the words on our big screens so we have fixed them up with iPads to follow (most) of the service.
We will have to remove and install the remote app on all of them, they are not the the most technical of people.

If you're having trouble controlling the slides on an iPad while someone else is controlling the presentation from a computer, it may be because both devices are trying to control the presentation at the same time. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
-
Ensure that the presentation is set up for remote control. In most presentation software, there is an option to enable remote control, which allows multiple devices to control the presentation at the same time. Make sure this option is enabled.
-
Make sure that the iPad is connected to the same network as the presentation computer. If the iPad is not on the same network, it may not be able to connect to the presentation software.
