Somewhat OT: Video Projector Recommendation

Our church has three projectors in the sanctuary. 1 in the back for those on stage to see. 2 aimed at the left and right sides of the baptistery so people on opposite sides can see. They project onto blank walls.

We replaced all three of them over the last six years. Now we need to replace another of the front-facing projectors. They are only used 2-3 hours/week on Sunday morning (start them up about 9:30, and they stay on till noon to-12:30. They are Viewsonics connected by DVI to a box that converts from Cat 6 to DVI on each end of the CAT 6 cable which runs through the attic back to the computer in the balcony at back - about 250 feet of cable.

So now you know our setup. What would you buy, or what do you own that would work?

The light is a little bright, but because of where they are hanging, there are no windows in that part of the sanctuary.

    Hi Kevin

I know it will involve some wiring but I would at least investigate the relative cost of replacing the projectors with display screens. We have done this in our church and would not go back to the faff of dealing with projectors.

On the screens folk don't need to have the text as large as one might expect. Have an experiment with a domestic monitor and see what you think. You can experiment with AirPlay or similar to avoid wiring temporarily.

Thanks Mike. Due to wiring this won't work for us. We will have to get a new projector. Our sanctuary is too deep to see an 85 inch screen and any bigger is cost prohibitive at this point.

Just seeing this - I'd recommend something with a laser light source, and 5,000 or more lumens and 1920x1080 resolution. How many lumens do your old projectors have?
