New City Press and Francis of Assisi Early Documents Index

Seems to me that Verbum and New City Press have a pretty good relationship i.e., the many books in the library published by them. Smile

The Francis of Assisi: Early Documents Index sometimes known as Volume 4 of the Early Documents appears to be no longer in print and does not even appear available on the New City Press website.

Verbum does have Francis of Assisi: Early Documents volumes 1-3. Thank you very much for that.

New City Press has published a pdf of the Volume 4 index and provides it to those that sign up for their newsletter. One caveat is that one agrees not to share the pdf with anyone else. Well worth it.

My question/my request...since there appears to be a good relationship with New City Press and New City Press has the Volume 4 index available in pdf format, can Verbum get the index, do their magic, and make it available to those of us that own Volumes 1-3?

How would it be helpful to owners of the first three volumes (in Verbum)?

It is an index of all three volumes by subject, names, places, and scripture. For example, if you want to know what is mentioned about the subject of chastity, you will discover:

Chastity: I 63, 100, 198, 292, 355, 458, 554, 572, 585;II 172, 562, 581, 694, 723;III 62, Index of Subjects 23 81, 334, 392, 457, 476, 481, 596, 601, 742–43, 770–71, 834, 877 celibacy: II 553

That would be Volume 1 - on pages 63, 100, etc., Volume 2 - on pages 172, 562, etc.

If you want to know where the prophet Nehemiah is used you will find:

Nehemiah

2:2 I 271

13:22 III 220

This will show you that Nehemiah 2:2 is referred to on page 271 of volume 1 and Nehemiah 13:22 is referred to on page 220 of volume 3.

Nothing I guess...just a matter of choice: scroll vs. keyboard. Another resource I would like to have.

There is also the advantage of an index providing a list of the terms worth searching for. I used indexes to screen a stack of resources frequently in my grad student days.

My mistake. We apparently have the index for The Conformity of the Life of Blessed Francis to the Life of the Lord Jesus, Books 1–3.

I'll reach out to NCP about Vol IV.
