Prioritize Bibles
Hi All,
Thanks for all who replied to my recent posts.
As you know I am returning to Verbum/Logos after a long time and wish to learn about it systematically.
Morris Proctor recommends choosing initially five prioritized Bibles. My choice for Catholic Bibles in order of preference is:
- NABRE
- NRSVCE
- RSV2CE
- NJB
- NET
Do you agree?
I would welcome suggestions and comments.
Would you consider it helpful to have in Verbum a glossary of technical computing terms used in support notes?

Well, everything has to match your Bible study.
Personally, I'd move NET up. My favs for notes are NABre and NET. NJB is good for notes, too. I mainly use the Help resource, when I'm confused.

It really depends upon your personal use. I prioritize the NRSV (not the NRSVCE) first because I need the broadest canon available. I still have to adjust my Bible priorities when dealing with Enoch.

I am grateful for replies, which have clarified my thinking.
DMB: I will move NET up. As well as using Help I am finding this forum excellent, as I am encouraged and stimulated by dealing with real persons as, following Aristotle, I hold that we are social animals.
MJ Smith: I used to favour NRSVCE, but now I have as my preferred Bible NABRE, as it is very close to the Greek, which I used to study, and Dianne Bergant, who gave me great insights when we met, apparently favours it and her Commentary (NColBC) is my preferred one.
I have added the ESV-CE to prioritized Bibles.
I will now move on to Commentaries.
