BUG: I need my note back
I just spent 15-20 minutes meticulously creating a note, then in the process of trying to produce the highlighting effect I wanted, the note was unceremoniously deleted.
I need my note back.
Fwiw, attempting to edit the highlighting effect on a note SHOULD NOT have any impact on the existence or non-existence of the note itself.
Deleting a note should not be something that can be inadvertently done within the text space of the program, but only in the note window itself.
I need my note back.

see L/V 10+ Tip of the Day #1 Where did my notes go? Trash can option - Logos Forums
I need something more - steps to recreate, logs, before/after screen shots - to be able to investigate it as a bug. I do know how I inadvertently clear a note, but I doubt that your issue is the same e.g. involving a furry paw.

Interesting...only issue is, I have nearly 6200 trashed notes, and they apparently are not listed by either most recent or alphabetically...so it's back to needle in a haystack. Typical Logos stuff...hope is NOT lost!! But...you may wish it was. [:S]

Honestly, after just the amount of time it took to scroll to the end of the list of deleted notes, I probably could have just recreated the note from scratch, pain in the tail that that will be.
How do I make the Filters column go away now?

arrow points to toggle icon; Note this is the same location as most left side-bars.

Thanks for helping.

I created the note. I filled the note window with my text. I returned to the program and added a highlight to the text that was attached to the note to make it stand out. I didn't like the highlight and wanted to try something else. I chose the text with the cursor and right-clicked it, which provided a pop-up that has a trash can. I clicked it, believing it would delete the highlighting I added to the noted text. It did, however, it also deleted the whole note as well. Fwiw, I used to do this exact same thing all the time in L3 and never had any problems--certainly never lost a note.
OBSERVATIONS/QUESTIONS/CONCLUSIONS:
- Deleting a note should only be possible from the note input window.
- If I can't select the noted text to delete the unwanted highlight w/o deleting the note itself, how do I delete the highlight and keep the note??
- If I have to weed through thousands of deleted texts to find one I wish to restore, that could take hours. How do I remove the deleted notes from the deleted note repository (which will take months)?
- Why does this program NEVER, EVER, EVER work in the way I need it to?

Thank you. I now know that caused the problem and the Logos staff knows one more misunderstanding that their interface makes possible.

Removing highlighting - Logos Forums Remove Highlighting - Logos Forums I fear the method I use would simply be confusing so I'm sending you to forum posts on the topic.
How do I remove the deleted notes from the deleted note repository (which will take months)?
You can't that would negate the purpose of the repository.
Why does this program NEVER, EVER, EVER work in the way I need it to?
Unfortunately, I can't answer that question accurately. And as the software is unlikely to be redesigned for a single user, it might be better to ask what it is that you are missing so that the software is so unusable - for that I can answer that coming to the forums and asking questions until you are comfortable with answering them yourself is the most practical approach.

If I can't select the noted text to delete the unwanted highlight w/o deleting the note itself, how do I delete the highlight and keep the note??
Two scenarios:
- This selected text may contain one note which has text (what you refer to as "note itself") and highlight applied,
=> open the note in the notes editor and change the highlight as you like, including to None.
Result: The highlight is gone, the text stays. - or it may contain two notes, one with text and one with highlight.
=> open the note in the notes editor, to make sure which one is the highlight. Selecting and choosing "Edit Note" from the selection menu will lead you directly to the highlight-only-note. Change it to your preference or drag it to the trash to delete it. The other note with the text in it will remain unaffected.
Result: The highlight is gone, the text stays.

Actually, for me they are: the trash is ordered by most recent (haven't tested, but this may have to do with how the notes themselves are ordered - I have them ordered by most recent as well). A note that I just deleted will simply sit on top.

Well, the reason I said the notes are not ordered according to "most recent" is because the note that got "disappeared" wasn't listed. So...it just vanished.

Well, since the note that just vanished isn't in the deleted genizah, I can only assume it is either gone w/o a trace (meaning it didn't work in this case) or it has sunk deep into the pit of despair. Either way, the genizah serves no purpose at this point. Only flushing out the unwanted waste can make it useful.
