KS4J hasn't posted on the forums since Sept 20. I am guessing he has not seen your plea. I hope he's OK.

Thank you Rosie. I hope and pray that he would be OK.

    Blessings in Christ.

In a printed Bible, the placement of words cannot be changed so the only option for Inductive Precept marking of topical is drawing/highlighting over words. The INDUCTIVE/PRECEPT highlighting palette in Logos matches the paper approach. Forum thread => more inductive symbols shows duplication of INDUCTIVE/PRECEPT highlighting palette followed by personal modification. In Logos Bible Study, my preference is inserting Topical item(s) before a word (as some highlghts make word harder for me to read), which allows me to prayerfully process a passage for relationships along with verbal intensity (morphology highlighting using Reverse Interlinear) and discourse word emphasis.

On my To Do list is updating Inductive Precept visual filters (incorporate Bible Sense Lexicon improvements). Also hoping & planning to update Logos Wiki: (albeit prison ministry has me busy for the next few weeks)

Appreciate prayers. Getting older has its opportunities: some of them are pleasant (at times my older body likes many hours of rest that keeps me from forum posting as much). Praying for Holy God's Guidance & Wisdom. Also Praying for Holy Healing in all life domains: Heart, Mind, Soul, Strength, & Worship for everyone, especially harvest workers.

August had a door closure in one prison for me, which had been followed by more Kairos prison ministry international activities.

Kairos desires inside prison leaders to experience Jesus in a loving way during an event: praying forgiveness of Jesus provides motivation for an ongoing life change to Love God.

Kairos (& other 4th Day movements: Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus, ...) has a weekend event with a series of talks & interaction focused on the goal of sharing the Love & Forgiveness of Jesus. During the "You are not alone" talk, a paper prayer chain is brought out in the prison setting to visibly show many people praying for God's Loving presence to be experienced during this event. My last Kairos weekend inside prison (before COVID-19 lock out) had over 2,000 prayer chain links.

Paper prayer chain link has First Name, City, & State. I would be glad to create a link for each person. Lord willing for me to be inside Buena Vista Correctional Complex from Thursday October 19 thru Sunday October 22.

Curious about learning goal: freely copy and use visual filters that have already been shared ? searching so can create/modify visual filter(s) ?

My preference for discussing how to use Logos Bible Study software is forum discussions, which benefits other users too: e.g.

I would love to have your great insights KS4J. Blessings and peace to all.

Also forum discussion allows users and Logos employees to participate too.

  • The Logos 10 Bronze Feature Upgrade (& higher) includes Bible Sense Lexicon (Biblical Word Sense dataset).

One set of Inductive visual filters is 5 W's & H => Who, What, Where, When, Why, & How.

"Inductive - 5 W's & H: How" is usable in Logos Free Edition & Verbum with Free Lexham Intro Collection (5 vols.)

Primary focus of original language verbs is kind of action, which is different than primary time focus of English verbs (past, present, future).

The Inductive "Who, What, Where, When, Why" visual filters need the Biblical Word Sense dataset.

    29B3 Inductive 5W H LEB LHB SBLGNT

The Bible Sense Lexicon top level is sense:entity. Some lower levels are connected in more than one place: e.g. sense:"harvest time" is connected to both sense:season & sense:"season (activity)"

    29B3 Bible Sense Lexicon Abstraction

Sign into Faithlife.com followed by Following Group "Logos Visual Filters"

    Faithlife Logos Visual Filters Follow

In Logos (or Verbum), can click Documents => Group => Tags => Inductive VF

    29B3 Documents Groups Tags

Select desired Inductive Visual Filters to copy followed by clicking "Add all to your docs"

29B3 Documents Groups Tags Inductive VF 5W H Add All

Thanks for your effort.,But it is in a picture form even if I zoom it is very difficult to see and follow it.

Yes, I have tried to expand it,but it is not easy to follow it. It is not the way I have expected.

Yes, I have tried to expand it,but it is not easy to follow it. It is not the way I have expected.

Not expected reminds me of my phone touchscreen when the phone interprets my touch (or wet shirt) in unexpected ways. My phone has challenges for me to hold and have respond to my desired directions.

Please elaborate what is not easy to follow. Also please elaborate about expected way desires.

FWIW: my 27" iMac 5K has display setting "More Space" that allows more characters to be displayed. Forum post has links to full size image so clicking an image expands it, which would need scrolling on a smaller screen.

After Kairos prison ministry weekend event, my todo list has more "Inductive - Precept" visual filter updates from previous => more inductive symbols discussion. My Bible Study preference is "Inductive - 5 W's & H", "Inductive - Precept", and Logos Morphology visual filters (primarily verbal insights for How kind of action).

Tes, KS4J has said it's better if his answers on this can be public on the forums so others can benefit from them. Please respect his limited time. It can't be focused on just one user.

Thankful for many friendly Logos forum discussions: have learned a lot plus have a lot to learn, especially What & How Logos Bible Study software works. A number of forum discussions have resulted in Logos Wiki pages (& later Logos created Support articles), which have been beneficial for many users.

Forum discussions allow other users & Logos development to interact as well => unexpected surprises provides user interface design feedback.

Logos Search conversion mostly worked. A number of Inductive - Precept searches can be improved so I do not know how long for updating these visual filters, followed by me replying to this thread.

Interpretation of inductive insights & Biblical meaning can be discussed at https://www.christiandiscourse.net/ (follow-up to a web site setup by Logos for theological discussions) that has included a variety of theological frameworks. Thus far, no one posting at https://www.christiandiscourse.net/ has changed their personal beliefs. Note: my last post at https://www.christiandiscourse.net/ was over six weeks ago (& last post by anyone was September 2).

I would love to have your great insights KS4J. Blessings and peace to all.

My Bible Study with various visual filters has encountered Living Word of God having different emphasis and insights at different places along my journey to become Holy as God is Holy. Inductive - Precept filters have helped me see topical connections. Logos Morphology filters help me see range of verbal expression (in original languages & reverse interlinears). Inductive - 5 W's & H remind me of questions to be prayerfully asking Holy God about inspired text.

KS4J: Maybe helpful additions to this thread, more useful than further updating the visual filters, would be:

    * how to download/import a set of highlighting styles that someone has shared, such as your Inductive - Precept ones.

    * what is your workflow when working with the styles (not meaning creating/editing them, but rather applying them in Bible text)?

    * explain what each of the existing ones is used for and how you determine when in the Bible to mark some text with one of these highlighting styles.

I think perhaps that's what Tes was getting at but not quite articulating what he meant. I don't see him as wanting to learn how to create more highlighting styles like these or learn your technique for doing it. But rather how do you use these ones?

I don't want to offend any body  I can stop here.

    Blessings in Christ.

  • * how to download/import a set of highlighting styles that someone has shared, such as your Inductive - Precept ones.

    1. Click Documents
    2. Click Groups
    3. Click Inductive VF (in Tags section)
    4. Select Inductive - Precept visual filters
    5. Click Add all to your docs

    Does numbering help ?

    * what is your workflow when working with the styles (not meaning creating/editing them, but rather applying them in Bible text)?

Logos Wiki => Bible Translation Spectrum includes:

    Bible Translation Spectrum">

For Bible Study of a passage, one practical approach is praying Psalms 119:18 followed by using S.O.A.P.

    S = Scripture (Where’s it at ?)

    O = Observe (What jumps out ?)

    A = Apply (What to do ?)

    P = Pray (about it)

At times, the “O = Observe” needs to seek meaning in Original Context to discover Truth gem(s).

Inductive & Logos Morphology visual filters provide colorful jump out items along with Bible text. At times, visual filters are unchecked for S.O.A.P. (so I can focus on Bible text without colorful additions).

    * explain what each of the existing ones is used for and how you determine when in the Bible to mark some text with one of these highlighting styles.

Inductive - 5 W's & H: How highlights original language verbs, which include participles. Primary verbal expression is kind of action => How ?

The Inductive "Who, What, Where, When, Why" visual filters need the Biblical Word Sense dataset. New Testament can also use LouwNida semantic domains.

Inductive - 5 W's & H: When highlights Bible Word senses for time.

Inductive - 5 W's & H: Who highlights living beings: human & supernatural. Hebrew & Aramaic proper nouns are names of living beings (albeit morphological tagging has some improvement opportunities as discussed elsewhere). LouwNida has names in Semantic domain 93 for the New Testament. Other searches find non-verbal words referring to living beings for Who ?

Inductive - 5 W's & H: What highlights adjectives for What ? Also highlights Hebrew & Aramaic non-verbal numbers along with non-verbal descriptive senses.

Inductive - 5 W's & H: Where highlights LouwNida named locations and Bible Word senses for location.

Inductive - 5 W's & H: Why highlights Bible Word sense abstraction that excludes adjectives, numerals, verbs, What, & Where.

Planning to describe topical Inductive - Precept visual filters in a future post (after updating searches in them, which will help my descriptions).

Puzzling for me is wondering how email would be better ?

Pleasant words can describe what was unexpected.

My forum posting (& email composition) has me write my words & read at least three times before posting (or sending). Reason for (re)reading my words is prayerfully striving to express truth in love (and trying to avoid my stupid human typographical oops - albeit still happens from time to time as my thought translation to letter typing has goofiness).

Also forum discussions have helped me learn & improve my Logos Bible Study software understanding. Thankfully other users have helped me learn more.

    deleted.

  • Undergirding my Bible Study approach is my prayers that include Holy God's Guidance & Wisdom for my thoughts, my actions, & my words. My personal motto is: Love Well, Be Holy, Be Rejoicing. Love Well reminds me to first Love God with all of me so I can Love & Respect myself as God Loves & Respects me, which enables God's Love & Respect to flow through me to my neighbors. Be Holy as God is Holy wants my nature to become as Holy God is, which includes Righteous Love. Be Rejoicing in the Lord always, again I will say, Be Rejoicing (Philippians 4:4) is reflected in "Keep Smiling 4 Jesus :)"

In accordance with my motto to Obey & Glorify God, my desire is speaking & writing words that express truth in love using kind & respectful words. Recent example of me repeating & expressing Logos Bible Study unexpected surprise is in thread => Metadata for Keener's Acts Commentary still not fixed after several years (with library filtering learning for me => Subj:Acts includes all subject variations of Acts while selecting Acts in subject sidebar finds a specific match, which is a subset of Subj:Acts filter results)
