Program BECOMES Slow After a Few Hours of Use

I have noticed over the years that after using Logos for several hours, it gets slower and slower, even when refined searches are done. When I click on a verse, it takes SEVERAL seconds to go to the verse.

This FIXES if I simply close Logos and then reopen it and restore the previous layout. I believe it has something to do with the history log...

I recently built a TOP of the line PC, thinking that this would not happen any more, but it STILL occurs. Is there an easier solution than closing and reopening Logos, such as a way to clear the history log or something?

Software Version 30.1.38 (64-bit)

*AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor 4.20 GHz

This is the kind of issue where techies might want to see logs. Enable logging, recreate the issue, grab the logs and post them here. See my signature line.

I have the same issue.  After hours of use, things slow down.  Even closing tabs takes 3-4 seconds.  I did find out that visual filters can be a problem.  They are executed even if you have turned them off.  I changed most all my visual filters to some bible I never use, that helped quite a bit.

I have created logs and analyzed, but haven’t figured out when or how the slowness starts occurring.  I would think others would have the same issue, but I don’t see much in the forums on slowness after some time using logos.

I have the same issue. Mine is after about 90 mins of usage. I have created logs to send to Customer Service but they could never track it down either. I finally found out visual filters were an issue. I did like Bob did. Also the use of more than 3 panels also caused it go slow down too. I just take periodic breaks when doing a lot of study in Logos Software on my PC.

Thank you for posting see BUG: Infinitely repeatable but difficult to document - Logos Forums . The more we can document when we see the slowdown and the more of us that report it, the more information and hints Logos has to track it down. Note this is not the same slowdown as excessive filters cause, this is the cumulative effect of continuous use. The workaround is to restart the app.

Okay, I am about to do some work in Logos tonight for a few hours, so the issue should recreate. I have begun the logging process. Thanks.

    You can clear History:

    • open Tools > History
    • click Clear

Note that Search VF's can create problems (even if switched OFF in the book's toolbar VF):

    • those with wildcards  e.g.  gloss:*
    • those that involve many books  e.g. All Bibles.

Thanks, I will try clearing the history the next time the issue arises...

Clearing history when the problem arises does NOT solve the issue.

I've added a link to this thread to the case we have open to investigate this problem.
