Can we please get a current update? Many of us are concerned this commentary series is dead.

I can't provide much information, but it isn't dead as far as I am aware. Lexham refreshed the series about 1.5 years ago, with Temper Longman III brought on as the new general editor. https://blog.lexhampress.com/2022/02/16/announcing-a-new-general-editor-for-the-evangelical-exegetical-commentary/
Additionally, there are a bunch of commentaries that have come out recently in digital format but haven't been released yet in print. https://lexhampress.com/Evangelical-Exegetical-Commentary
But yeah, even for commentaries, this series seems to be quite slow to produce with little public information. Which seems a shame, not just for those of you who pre-ordered it, but they have produced some really good content so far and it would be good for God's church to have access to more of these resources.

I do have an update on three EEC titles:
- Galatians by Michael Burer is tentatively scheduled for 7/24/2024
- Job by Duane Garrett is tentatively scheduled for 7/24/2024
- 1 & 2 Kings by John Oswalt is tentatively scheduled for 1/15/2025
Just to reiterate, these are tentative dates for the print editions -- it's likely that these volumes will be available in Logos ahead of these dates, though I don't have a specific timeframe for their availability in the platform.

Yes, these volumes will be available for individual purchase, but the early access to the Logos editions will be exclusive to users who already own the licenses to them via the full 44-volume collection.

Thank you Jake but we don't care about the print edition although I am sure some people do. But those who purchased the digital version several years ago are only concerned with the digital version. Four years seems a long time between releases.

I like the print versions...because that's what my library buys and I'm too poor to purchase even the digital ones myself 😢

On the NT side, both Michael Burer (Galatians) and Buist Fanning (Hebrews) are close to submitting manuscripts. On the OT side, Richard Averbeck is supposed to submit his manuscript for Leviticus this fall. Additionally the OT editors are close to completing a review of both John Oswalt’s 1–2 Kings and Abner Chou’s Deuteronomy. That's in addition to Joshua and 1 & 2 Chronicles which were already in review with the OT editors.All of these volumes still have to go through author revision and editorial review, and since that process is unique to each volume the timeline is difficult to predict. It's possible some of these volumes will be on the publication schedule for the second half of 2022. Lexham and the series editors are working diligently to get the manuscripts in great condition and out into the world.

In this thread post, I do not see Fanning even being mentioned. Any thoughts/comments? What has happened to Logos regarding the EEC?

I have a few updates to share about the EEC. We're pleased to announce 22 new authors have been contracted to write volumes in the series. New General Editor Tremper Longman III and the rest of the editorial team have been hard at work securing the commitment of these new contributors and are very excited about the caliber of scholarship they will bring to the series.

There are three volumes that are currently vacant -- Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi; Matthew; and 1–2 Thessalonians -- and the editorial team is currently seeking new authors for these volumes.

I also want to say thank you for the updates, and I appreciate them. But I must say my excitement for the series is lessoned now. Several of the authors have changed greatly, as well as a theological stances that were originally present when the series was created. I was looking forward to Averback on Leviticus and Stallard on revelation. I am tiring of Goldingay, commentaries And revelation switched from dispensational to eclectic.

I purchased this entire commentary set 12 years ago. It is much different for me than originally advertised. Why is a refund not an option?

I purchased this series in June 2011 for $749. That's more than 12 years ago. We were told the entire series would be published within 6 years. Galatians by Michael Burer is "tentatively scheduled" for 2018, and now it's 7/24/2024. If you don't demand the manuscript from these authors, it may never get it done. There is a lack of commitment to those of us who helped fund this series by paying in advance.

This has definitely been a headache for those of us who purchased the digital version. It's like they don't care about us. We paid and now they only care about the print volumes nobody has paid for yet. While I am not sure if I will even be alive to get the entire series. I don't want a refund. Would the owner of Faithlife please speak up on this issue. You have taken peoples money and not done what is right. Unacceptable! Please reach out to those who paid up front and apologize for this issue and come to some sort of consensus of resolution.

Garrell, do you REALLY think that's what Bob did (former CEO)? Do you think he was (1) stupid, (2) dishonest, (3) naive, or (4) all of the above? I've never met him, but my impression is that he received commitments, when he agreed to rescue the set. If I remember right, he mentioned 2014 as the target date ... someone made those commitments to him.
My guess is they're more frustrated than you ... chances are good, the estimated ECC profit margin never materialized, and years of paying staff ... on and on and on, has not been a good time for them. Much less frustrated product owners.

DMB, No disrespect to Bob or the current owner. There just needs to be more transparency of what is going on with EEC. They simply have peoples money and need to either refund the money or be a bit more forth coming on a consistant basis with the EEC. Your assumption of me stating 1. stupid, dishonest, naive, or all of the above was never stated! I know they are frustrated, we on the other end are def frustrated as to the many forum posts that have been mentioned. Thanks for your thoughts.

1 Kings is moving through our editorial process and is on track to publish in January 2025 (with the Logos edition releasing ahead of that date like the other two volumes).
We're also working on getting 1 & 2 Samuel into print and the Logos edition just received an update as part of that process.

Thank you Jake! I know this is low on the priority list but I still have several volumes that show the old covers. I know James was removed but Jude and Samuel still show the old style.

I was thinking of the original offering of the series advertising the advantages of going with an electronic only series. With electronic editions authors would not be constrained by page limits often times found in print books. This would allow an author to pursue select topics and rabbit trails in the commentary. There would also be opportunities for authors to regularly revise their work in incorporate new information and further study.
These are dimensions of the series that have not been developed as much as I thought they might be in the series.
