the short answer is select the Confidence tab at the top and click on "Video on Confidence"
Note:this template has the video player within a black frame. to make it larger I clicked on "edit this template" I dragged the corner of the player frame to fill the viewable area then renamed my template as "Bigger Confidence Video" If I select this template, the video player fills the whole confidence monitor (easier to see from stage)

I got that to work for an actual imported video, but that does not work for an external video source like the Apple TV.

Proclaim doesn't have access to an external video source. That is never going to the computer in the first place for you to duplicate it.,

The Apple TV is connected to the PC VIA a HDMI USB capture device.
I can get it to display in proclaim by making a slide with a clear background, however I cannot get it to display on the confidence monitor.

Is it even possible to display a video source on the confidence monitor given the video source is shown in the background and relies on a clear background for the slide with the confidence monitor not using the individual slide background?

Ah, you are using the video input feature, not a video within Proclaim.
so no, currently you cannot see the live video on the confidence monitor.
for Others, this is accomplished by selecting a webcam source from Settings > Video input. This source then plays as the back most layer, behind the background and can be revealed with transparent backgrounds. The intent was during COVID when folks needed an easy live streaming option to combine graphics with a live video feed.

Would be a nice feature to have it shown on the confidence monitor as occasionally we may have a presentation on an apple device and it's just easier to show it on the apple TV as it can be controlled by the one speaking if they so desire.
I did just put in a suggestion for that in the suggestions forum.
