NEW FEATURE: Biblical Events section in Factbook, now available for testing

Community Manager, Logos Employee Posts: 881

Factbook now has a new section for Biblical Events, on pages that are run on a Bible passage. This section is intended to replace the existing Events section of Factbook when the new section is available.

There are three main views.

  • The Featured view highlights notable things that happened in the passage (Marriages, Meals, etc.), based on the Faithlife Biblical and Theological Lists datasets.
  • The Outline and Mentioned views display information from the Biblical Events Dataset.

How you can test

Please report any problems with:

  • Incorrect data, especially differences compared with similar tools like corresponding sections in desktop’s Passage Guide or Explorer tool.
  • Performance concerns
  • UI/UX issues (loading states, scroll position changing, labels colliding or getting clipped, etc.)

We’d also welcome any feedback on the usefulness of the feature, and ideas for improvements or innovations.

This feature will be licensed as part of the Logos Pro subscription, and is currently planned for desktop and mobile app versions 36.0. It is currently available for beta testing at app.logos.com to all members of the public group Logos Pro (early access) Beta Features.

Thank you!

I was confused when I entered Mk 1:1-8 as I usually work with pericopes not chapters. For the pericope I got only the outline option which didn't match your screen shot. And the open Bible event navigator had a line that left in unclear where the division line for the Factbook section was i.e. it appeared identical to a section division line.

So, I try Mk 1 and get the featured option ... but featured lacks Jesus' baptism and has only the 40 day fast???? It seems like a few theological lists are needed for Verbum I'd call it NT sacraments but that would drive the non-sacramental theologians nuts

Once I figured out Featured didn't mean important, I like the way it is  presented and works.

I don't it's been released yet, Adam said it was for version 36, but his wording was confusing.

When I read "replace" - based on previous comments if we are not subscribed, we will still have the Events section that has been there.... Correct?

Just wondering what the major improvement to this section is, that it will be locked behind a paywall.....

    Yes, that's right.

The main innovation here is the "Featured" section, which better presents information you probably already have a license for, but which their isn't an easy way to see for a passage. There are also some small touches on the Outline view, like adding a link the Biblical Event Navigator.

I wouldn't consider any of those a "major improvement" -- rather, they are small improvements, along with other changes in Factbook like the Commentaries section that will ship in desktop v35, that will add up over time.

I don't use the web app very often, but I appreciate seeing the preview and also starting to see some new features emerge that we can expect in the new development model.

How do I get it to the test?

    Blessings in Christ.

Adam explains that in his original post - it is currently only on web and you need to be a member of the Faithlife group he mentioned to see it.

Hi Graham, So  it means that it could be that I don't fit to join the group based of my technical knowledge limitation.

    Blessings in Christ.

There is no bar that I am aware of. Have you tried to join the Faithlife group?

Tes, you are already in that group, so you have temporary access to this feature.

You can test it at https://app.logos.com/tools/factbook, and enter a Bible reference.
