Official: Early access updates and subscription pricing

While it isn't available now, there's nothing to worry about. We are planning on supporting an option to get early access subscribers into a 2 year option. When we have the details on how this will work we will let customers know, and make sure there is clear instructions on how to add the extra time. [:)]Terry Kleinsmith said:Also, whatever the solution is, can L or FL post clearly on the main webpage what or where to go? Users are getting skittery over the closing on 10 without knowing what to do for a two year option. ? I tried to extend my existing plan but the site does not allow it. Merely adding an "Extend my Plan" button, then posting to handle it on the subscription screens of a users account may work.

The subscriptions will come with access to some books, but libraries will continue to be sold separately.Br Damien-Joseph OSB said:That all depends on the contents of the forthcoming features and datasets, however! Especially because, I'm assuming, these prices apply only to a subscription of future features and datasets. I am assuming that libraries of books will be sold separately. I still think this is great.

Hi Ken,Ken Shawver said:Is there a deadline? I am looking to sign up in the next week.
I'm not Mark, but I do know the answer. The deadline to sign up for a subscription during the early access window is 10/4.
Are you saying that we have to sign up by 10/4 to get the early access pricing? Will the price be the same for everyone after 10/4? I own the Logos 10 Full feature set and I want to sign up for the Logos Pro 2-year subscription at the discounted price. Can I do that now or do I have to wait until 10/4? If I try to do it after 10/4 will the price increase for Logos 10 users? If I contact customer service can they just do it for me now?

I've update the chart to include other specialty feature sets from Logos 10.
The list order is upside down to me. If you start with Best, then Better, etc we know what "Any other feature set" is. But "Anyone else" is better being phrased as "No feature set".
I think FL should now change the "crossed out" pricing at https://www.logos.com/early-access/subscriptions

You're absolutely right. Since people read from top to bottom, "anyone else" is a confusing place to start.

Or is that October 4 (as with septic tanks)?

I signed up for the early access because I though I was getting a deep discount. ($39.99 to $13.99).
It is what it is now, but it’s not cool that we had $39.99 as the price for those who did not invest in the features before, and that there is such a small difference in price vs not having the Early Access. The price of my features is only a fraction of the discount I get over 2 years now.

Will Qumran Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls Database be available in Pro or Max? I'm paying 5.99 a month for this Database now.

Nonetheless, your savings will continue to accumulate. In addition, you will earn the LFL for free, giving you ownership of features. Would you really want new customers to pay $39.99/mo. while acquiring no ownership of features?

You bring a good point. Im glad it’s affordable for newbies in Logos. That’s awesome!!!
I just think I would have made a different decision if I had the right info from the get go. Also, I’m not using the AI as much as I thought since I’m doing a lot of language work (Hebrew specifically). I truly hope they bring good AI features to the languages, to make searches easier and more meaningful (grammar, etc).

CS may be able to process a return if you explain the situation. If you plan on subscribing for awhile, however, I'm not sure how much money that would save you in the long run. I agree that AI tools in the original languages category would be fun to see eventually.

Interesting, so for me even with the steepest discounts, my annual subscription price will go up 30%. That's quite and inflation!
I really liked the 'no library' connect subscription because given the size of my library and prolific book purchasing, the subscription library always lacked appeal (and often lacked any new provision).
I see it isn't possible to buy 2 years now... are these discounts going away? Can you please be clear what the purchase window is?
I have to be honest that at the full price without discounts I wouldn't consider it. With the discounts, I'm feeling disappointed about it.
Have you considered a full catalog subscription like netflix or perlego for books? Or credits like audible so at least we could choose the books which interest us rather than a fixed bundle?

It actually really isn't. The price for Logos Connect - No Library has been the same for 9 (?) years. So a 30% price increase is much lower than overall inflation. But actually, Logos Pro is the same price as your current subscription and includes everything your current subscription includes (with some tweaks to the free book, cash back, and mobile ed) plus more. Think of Logos Max as a new, higher tier that will eventually offer an extra set of new features and right now offers rental access to some great resources like the EEC.

Thanks for the update. You write, "We’re closing early access to our new subscriptions on October 4 to get everything prepped for when we fully launch subscriptions in the fall. If you’re already on early access, no action is required. Your subscription will continue without any interruption."
I'm set up to pay $99.99 on Oct 3rd for Pro annual payment but want to change to $189.80 for two years. It doesn't look like that option will be set up by then. What should I do to make that change?
Also, I asked about the difference with Faithlife connect and was told that with a subscription there was not only a 5% reward coupon but also an additional 5% discount on purchases and a 4th extra free book of the month (not from the Classics series). Is this correct?

My point exactly Michael.
It does seem a little strange to end the sale on one date in the US and on another for the rest of the world.
I wonder why they would do that!

If I was migrated from FCE to Pro early access, but want Max, is there a reason to migrate to Max early access or best to wait until the official launch?

Mark,
I am in the same position as you, and as I understand it is best to wait until the product release before switching to Max. There will be no additional features that are Max only at that time so you are not missing anything except the additional books.

During the Logos Connect there were some privillages like getting a discount and free books some or at least one book monthly. I intend to think that perhaps Logos Max will take the place of Logos connect or might be very tiny difference than the other tiers. Just very curious!

Two years will be available at launch. It will be 19 months for the price of 24.
John Goodman said:Have you considered a full catalog subscription like netflix or perlego for books? Or credits like audible so at least we could choose the books which interest us rather than a fixed bundle?
Besides Perlego, no one has cracked books by subscription because most publishers are not interested in it. (And when you see how much artists make from Spotify, for example, that might explain why.) Even then, Perlego is relatively limited in its content. Even Kindle Unlimited has an extremely limited catalog, and if Amazon can't pull it off, it's unlikely we'll be able to.

I would suggest to marketing that 24 months for the price of 19 might be a more marketable offer.

Hi John, happy to provide some clarity for you. As you've pointed out, the two year option isn't available yet. While the window for picking up an early access subscription ends on October 4, the prices shown in my post reveal what the prices will be (including the 2 yr optoin) when we launch the subscriptions to the public very soon.John Goodman said:I see it isn't possible to buy 2 years now... are these discounts going away?
John Goodman said:With the discounts, I'm feeling disappointed about it.
I'm sorry you're disappointed about our pricing. Our intent was that Logos Pro would be the replacement for Connect Essentials (No Library), our plan is to migrate everyone (who hasn't already chosen a different subscription) to Pro. You can read more about that here. While it doesn't include a few features of the Logos 10 Full Feature Set, it does include all of the newest developments that will be available at launch. If you own the Logos 10 Full Feature set, then you would only see gains from the new features in Pro and your price wouldn't change at all. In fact, if you went the two year option, your price would be better than the "no library" option.
Regarding the two year option, early access customers will have the ability to take advantage of that. The solution may not be available on launch day, but we will communicate here in the forums, and in email, how early access subscribers can take advantage of that opportunity when it's available.
We're grateful for your feedback. Keep it coming.0 -

michael franklin said:and a 4th extra free book of the month (not from the Classics series). Is this correct?
It depends on by what you mean by "4th extra free book". The new perk gives an additional free book, and it is not from the "Classics series". It will sit on top of our formal free book promotion, which typically has 1 to 2 free books per month. But there is also a free audio book, ebook, and Verbum book each month. Which is why I called into question the "4th free extra book" comment.
Connect users had a free book perk that sat on top of these monthly freebies. The Connect freebies were from the "Classics" series. This is being replaced by our new perk. With the new perk you can expect the same quality of book that we use in our formal free book program each month.
So to restate, in case you got lost in all the freebies we provide [;)]: Yes, you will get an extra free book that is only available if you subscribe, and it will not be limited to the classics series.0 -

Thanks for asking, we haven't given the 2 year option an end date. We feel that the 2 year option is going to be the best option for those of you who are avid Logos users. However, we know this is a big transition and we want to ensure you have adequate time to decide what's best for you.

I received the email announcing this today. I was a Connect User from the start and Logos has seemingly done everything in its power to make the changeover to the new subscription model as pleasant an experience as possible. At every step they've gone beyond what I would have expected. Kudos to Mark and the rest of the team. For $30 more per year that what I was paying for Connect Essentials, I've got a more powerful Bible study tool and some serious upgrades.

On the early access page it says there's a 30-day free trial. Does this mean it would be advantageous to sign up for this before Oct 4 or just as well to wait until the full release later next month? Presumably by the time the 30-day trial is up the two year pricing will be live and then we can easily transition over to that...

If for example we pay for Premium by 2 years up front payment, can we then later upgrade with dynamic pricing prior to the end of the 2 years, in order to qualify for legacy fallback features that are later released for Pro and Max?
No.
Let's say you switched to Pro after 1 year of subscribing to Premium.
After two years of subscribing to Premium or above you'd qualify for the Premium LFL. After two years of subscribing to Pro (i.e., after three years in total), you'd qualify for Pro LFL.
Thank you Mark, this makes sense thanks for the clarification [Y]

Quick glance this doesn't make sense. You have premium, pro, and max
So the more I already have, the more I have to pay?
0 -
I understand we can still buy feature packages for Logos 10. My initial impression is that buying the feature upgrade to get a subscription discount is not worth it. It seems to make more sense to pay the two year subscription price, which then unlocks permanent features, rather than buy the feature upgrade and then pay the lower two year subscription price. Am I missing something or are others coming to the same conclusion?

I don't think it's this way. It's more like the more you want, the more you pay. If you already own the Logos 10 Full Feature Set, then you'll keep those features and they will continue to work. Without the subscription, you won't get access to new features. If you own the 10 Full Feature Set, you can have access to any level of the subscription at a lower price. If you own one of the lower levels of the feature set, you can have discounted access to the corresponding subscription tier (I forget the names of the other levels of the Logos 10 Feature sets).
I hope this helps address your concern.

For those who can afford to pay the two-year subscription price, you might be correct (I haven't done the math). However, for those who would have to pay for one year at a time, or maybe monthly, there could be savings. Also, if they are doing it monthly, and then for some reason, they cannot keep it up, they would lose all of the features.
I think Logos aims to benefit people who are on both sides of how they are paying.
