Beta 3 feature notices
Thought we could have a thread will all the changes we notice in Beta 3.
I don't think this was in Beta 2 so I'll give it a shot. I like the way the reading list shows if an item is locked or not and gives check boxes for those in the collection. I think the reading list is going to be a big win.

the total number of books in the library is now listed at the top of the library window.

Seems like the library is searchable while it is being indexed! I'm sure its only returning results from the indexed resources, though.
I like the the equivalent resources can be hidden after they've been displayed. And as mentioned in the Beta 3 notes its nice to have an image rather then the small icon.
Also, its nice to be able to quickly turn off Visual markups by using the Three circles thingy (is there a technical term?)

They all show locked for me, even if it's not.

Are you done indexing? I wonder if that plays into it. I've noticed at least two unlocked.

I call them Borromean rings, but I don't know if that's our actual interface name.

Actually it's just the John Owen list that does that. The other lists are fine.

Sorry, no math in Bible College...no math in Seminary...Borromean rings doesn't stick to me. Trinity rings might work for me though :-)

I like Jacob's Borromean rings, but I'm leaning towards "Filters button" for our less math-geeky customer base....

The rebuild of books like the "Keyword Learning System"
I missed this one. Nice find! I have used this in the past. Wish they would update the pictures from the 70's art, though.

I think so too. I see some huge potential for them. But I'm suprised that no beta testers have created any yet. I'm curious why.
- Don't know how?
- Takes too long?
- Too busy playing, I mean, testing?
- Some other reason?

4. Some other reason? -> spent to much time watching L4 index and and flat line the CPU at 100% to have a chance to even consider stuff like this... would love to get into it though Phil....going to embark on B3 download soon hopefully the work the guys have been putting into optimization will be noticeable in this round of indexing.....

I've thought about it, but I didn't want to spend the time figuring out the first step...remembering the exact website to go to. It needs something within the reading pane that say add new....which takes you to the right site. That would be a start. Then I'd have to see what the next obstacle is once I get to it.
Also, I wasn't sure we could create our own yet and didn't want to spend the time going there only to find out it's not available yet.

Phil,
5.) Just have been too busy with the other features and don't know how yet.

Yeah, well. Ummm.. 5? It's kind of a mixture of 3 and 2. In between 4-5 messages a week, beta testing, trying to blog, running a family and running. I'm a little low on reading list development time.
Geesh, someone get me some cheese! That's a lot of whining.[D]
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

OK. In preparation of my study of 1st Peter I decided to sit down and start a reading list of Peter. I'll be walking through his life before getting into the book. Here are my thoughts after creating a little bit. Perhaps you can shed some light on easier ways then what I tried to do it.
Before I do too much more with the reading lists I would need, along with the other copy options, the option to copy the current location to reading list format. I want to keep the reading list professional looking because some out there are real picky about the periods and such being in the right place :-) I should be able to click a button in the current window and paste in the edit field exactly what needs to go there so that the reading list format stays uniform. It took me too long to edit the entries, especially making sure the spaces are in the right place.
I would recommend trying to keep the outline in the same format across reading lists. In other words following the same 1, 1.1, 1.2 headings that you have for the trinity. to Facilitate this I would add a "begin a reading list" button to the edit window. So under the window you would have Save...Start Reading List...Preview...Cancel. Have it unelectable if a reading list already exists for the entry. Clicking it would put a standard set of headings in and set the current users name for the author.

I'm afraid to invest much in customization, notes, bookmarks, etc. since I am afraid that an update will fry what I've done. So, when it gets more stable with the updates and we get closer to going gold I will start doing that.

Reading lists are maintained completely outside of your local machine or your account. Famous last words...I know...but they are not effected by the upgrade process. I don't blame you for waiting till the official release, though.

So since I was the first do I get a prize...say a free copy of all the Zondervan books? Come on...follow in the footsteps of our great national leaders...give a handout.

And it was nicely done, too, Phillip. thanks

Bob,
Come now, let's be geeky. It makes some say, "Huh?"

How would a card do? I have one especially suitable -- "Go directly to jail. Do not pass "Go"; do not collect $200.00. [:D]

I'm in category #1 and would like Phil (either one) to share the wisdom.

Replace "Philip Spitzer" with your name. The "!" denotes the heading level. "*" denotes a bullet. "/" denotes italics font. "[[" and "]]" denotes a hyperlink, the " >> " points towards the hyperlink that underwrites the preceding text. I use the Wiki copy format and edit as needed. NOTE THAT THERE MUST BE A SPACE BEFORE AND AFTER THE ">>." From there I would suggest that you click save. If you have any questions ask away. I may not be able to answer them but I'm sure Logos will :-) Any tips they can give us would be extremely helpful.

Well, I suppose going to jail would follow in the footsteps of some or our great national leaders.
