Biblical People & Places not working - Things just in the top pane
I'm sure that I've got all the updates, downloading and indexing -- although beyond not seeing a Logos icon in the system tray and being told by the little arrow circles that everying is up-to-date I'm not sure how I'd really know -- but Biblical People and Places still tell me I need more resources and Biblical Things only shows things in the top banner - little whirly things go in both but nothing appears in the bottom.
My understanding of the Release notes is that they should be working? Am I wrong?

Hi Chris,
A secondary update which will download the required resources should take place as well. This can occur during indexing, but if you do not see the blue icon in the system tray, indexing may be complete. Try closing the program and restarting your computer. Reopen the program and watch for the blue icon. If it comes up, right-click on it to see if it asks you to Install Updates.

Melissa,
I got several download/updates last night in the icon tray. I've rebooted my computer and waited 5 minutes. The sync says its all good. The icon in the system tray never appeared.
I'm attaching my indexer log in case they help you.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm told that some of the resources cannot yet be delivered through the update server, so users who didn't install from the DVD won't have them. They should be ready for delivery by Beta 4.

Thanks, Melissa, good to know it is not a bug.

Melissa,
Just in case it is supposed to be working, I am getting nothing in Biblical People, Places or Things now in B4 - opened several times with no further downloads or indication of need for synchronization.
Messages say:

Well, after 1.9 gigs of download and 3 hours of re-indexing, I have Biblical People, Places and Things. Thanks.
First thing I noticed that I didn't like -- you Logos people need to know that all your efforts are really appreciated, but the purpose of Betaing (try that in you lexicon) is to find errors or things we don't like, sorry -- is that when I did a PG on Ephesians 4:13-25 Ephesus didn't come up as a Biblical Place. I realized Ephesus is not in the passage but since the epistle is to the Ehpesians (if you accept that destination) it would seem sensible to me that Ephesus would appear as a Place in any passage guide on any verse(s) in Ephesians -- thinking of newbies here, in particular. It does come up when you do a PG on Ephesians 1:1-2, BTW.
Second thing, I did a PG on John 12:34 - the only Biblical Person that came up was Jesus (Son of God) -- that's fine, but under topics the only one identified was "Andrew" - now I don't know why he comes up as a topic of that verse, but if there is some link to him there, why isn't he also in the Biblical People section (I checked and there is a Biblical People entry for him). None or Both it seems to me (I think it should be none in this case.)
I think there is a wealth of info in these (should be for 1.9 gigs) which will take a while to mine and will help graphically oriented people and newbies.

Chris:
The design of Biblical People and Places is intended to only cover mentions by name in a verse. So even though all of Ephesians is, in some sense, about Ephesus, our choice was to only include verses where the name Ephesus (or some related name) appears (which is why it occurs in http://ref.ly/Ep1.1, but not http://ref.ly/Ep1.2).
As to the Topics section of the passage guide: this area is still under active development, but you won't generally find an exact overlap between Topics and the People/Places/Things sections. The latter is intended to be comprehensive and precise: the former is more general and broad-reaching (which means it will sometimes include things you might not expect).

Sean,
Broader is fine, but the results should still be somewhat related to the text. "Andrew" seems a bit far-fetched (or "Philip" should be included too if John 12:22 is the basis for including "Andrew"). Since so much focus is on avoiding unnecessary support calls, the net should probably not be cast so wide...

Thomas:
I agree that many of the current topics aren't obviously related to the passage in question: we're still looking at ways to improve that section.
