I don't think I like the "Answered" option

It seems that once "answered" shows, all discussion is over.

Pastor Don, we are asking the same question. I have had 2-3 answers to a question in the previous forum. I like that.

I think most posts which say ”Answered” are not actually answered.

In the beta version of the new forums, it allowed the original poster to select whether or not it was answered. After someone's post, it would read "Answered", but when it was checked by the poster, it would add a check mark. I wonder if that's still a thing…

It would appear that the ANSWERED is being applied automatically from what people are saying

It would appear from the responses people are making that they don’t seem to marked the questions answered. On the original thread MJ is conforming that.

You have to manually answer the question “Did this answer your question?” And choose “No” and it takes the “Answered” away.

Maybe change the initial "answered" to "responded to" or something like that. When the original poster checks that it's been satisfactorily answered, at an "answered [check mark]" to the thread?

    I dunno….

I think it's just a matter of getting used to the new forums. "Answered" simply means that someone has supplied an answer. That is accurate information. At this point, the OP would need to revisit the thread and mark whether or not the answer was sufficient. If it was not sufficient, the OP can reject the answer, and then the question will return to the "unanswered" category. I think it's a fine system once people get used to it. Once a thread has a check mark next to "Answered," it is identified as having received a sufficient answer. Until the question gets to this point, it is the responsibility of the OP to manage their thread and reject all insufficient answers.

I think the best solution is to remove the automatic “answered”. Because:

    1. If it remains people will forever be asking what it means and why their question which isn’t answered says it is answered.
    2. If it is removed no one has to reject every none answer in a thread they started.
    3. It just doesn’t make any sense.

If it has to stay I think that would be a better option as it makes actual sense. I guess Logos and MVP’s could see at a glance that something was not getting addressed.
