"The latter is the case with our forums."

Well, yes and no. For example on Forums > English > List of posts, the iPhone matches the Mac, except no quick links anywhere (but neither having adverts). If instead, I go community/logos.com/discussions > list of posts, the iPhone matches the Mac, except no quick links anywhere (but yes, an advert). Indeed to get the latter quick link on my iPhone, I emailed it from my Mac.

@DMB I stand (well, sit) corrected!

For our mobile environment, "Quicklinks" are moved to the navigation bar. I learned something new just now. Thank you!

I set notification and get much like you describe - not perfect but you may find it better,

@Jason Stone (Logos) I've mentioned my concern in different ways in this forum and so far without a response. Probably because I didn't offer any thoughts for alternatives. If I knew of any I would offer. For the time being I've stopped following the English forum because of getting hundreds of redundant* and irrelevant* notices. Maybe if I explain how I use the forums it would help or maybe you or someone could explain something I'm missing or don't understand that will get me going again.

*Redundant= a separate notice from each poster on the same subject

*Irrelevant= irrelevant to me-not a topic/subject/group I would have followed in the old forum that is now part of the all in one English forum.

I'm thinking there are at least two ways people use this forum.

One, probably the most common, is to actually come to the forums, search, read and post, using whatever device you prefer.

Two, my method and probably less popular, is to select categories and sub-groups if they were available in the forum to follow and have notifications sent to my email where I read them. If I then decide to post, or respond to a post only then will I go online to the forum, I don't go to the forums searching for or reading posts there. I don't have the time nor do I want to spend time doing that.

This is why I would like to see better grouping or consolidating of email notices.

A few things I think would be helpful

    1. If posts/comments by different posters on the same topic could be consolidated into fewer notifications by subject instead of by individual. I have my mail sorted by subject but still get every individual. Right now I get a separate notice from every poster who comments on the same subject or topic. I don't mind the separate comments just not all the separate notices I have to open.
    2. I would like to see the "tag" or "group" BUG either moved out of English Forum bucket or somehow be able to follow and receive notices about these posts without having to receive hundreds of general English Forum posts. Bugs should be as easy to find as announcements.
    3. Will there ever be a possibility to follow or unfollow a member?
    4. I also don't receive my own comments or post notices in email and I have both notify me of new posts and new comment checked under categories in my preferences. What am I missing?

Too soon old. Too late smart.

Was I imagining that the posts had a light blue background behind them? The post background is back to white

And this post did not show up in my post history so I had to search for it manually… some kind of bug there I think.

The posts having a background and border is an improvement which helps a lot I think.

    Hello Jason,

If I click in the email on the blue button, I land somewhere in the forum. At page 3 or 5, but not where the post are.

Here are a few suggestions after using the new forums for a few weeks:

    1. I miss the ability to preview my post, before I submit it. This was particularly useful if I have embedded a graphic.
    2. I also would like the ability to use the "quote" feature and then edit the quote so it only includes the relevant portion.
    3. Another thing I would like to see is threaded responses, where I could respond to a particular user's comment and read additional discussion about this user's comment. If this is implemented, there should be the option to have a "flat" view of posts, which is the current display, or a "threaded" view, where responses to a specific post would be indented under the post.'
    4. I would the editor to allow bullet points and indented paragraphs.
    5. Some editing features, like boldface and italics, are available, but hidden. The old editor had more obvious commands, although some did not actually work (like indenting paragraphs).

I'm glad that we were able to jump on that fix so quickly. Thank you for flagging that issue for us, Frank!

I getting mixed up. I just got back from Harry's thread … it's all white … no blue blocks. But over here, there's blue blocks.

OK: I figured it out. When you comment and save the comment, it's white. But if you go back and re-load, it's blue/box. I assume the blue-ing code is on the page load.

OK: Not quite. I give up.

    Hi Jason,

here a suggestion for the Feedback part of the forum:

(you are looking at my 32'' monitor Chrome size at 110%) besides the usual that new post don't stand out enough and there might be a tad too much white space): The algorithm seems to equate "New" with "Trending". While I remember those being different in the old feedbear site, these days I nearly always have the same entries in "Newest" and in "Trending", so the two lists are nearly always redundant. Please either change the algorithm for trending (my POV: a new suggestion or idea is only then trending when other users support it) or replace this with another list, e.g. most-voted ideas.

@Jason Stone (Logos) and another suggestion: please look over the announcements and prune them.

While Feedback is a page I look at only once in a while, the English Forum is where I most often go - I suspect this is the same for others as well. I have a large monitor and screen estate galore, but can only see two recent posts since six non-recent announcements take up most of it. I don't know if we really need more than one about rules, overview and such. And we don't need the announcement for the next-to-latest releaste sticky at the top either (since the release notes are - helpfully - linked at the right side, do we need that at all?) Thinking further, would it be possible to put two announcements (rules and everything and the latest stable release) at the righthandside instead of the release notes and have no permanent sticky announcements at all?

You can dismiss announcements by clicking on the three dots to the right of the announcement post.

Thank you Aaron. I dismissed them all! Now they're gone. I wonder if it's permanent … can't get them back. And Jason's updates go off into the ether.

After an announcement is dismissed it will behave like a normal post. If a user comments in the thread, it will be bumped back to the top.

Thank you, Aaron … I guess I should have thought of that! Dismiss mean bye! Vs the actual 'un-Pin'

@Jason Stone (Logos) Another quirk today with the Feedback page:

Two of the three newest ideas were not really new (they were probably the ones most recently commented on), and the trending ones were actually the most recent.

Hey @Jason Stone (Logos), as I am using it more and more, I am liking it more and more. I'm getting used to it. Change can be hard, especially for those of us who used the old style forums for over a decade. The only thing that I'm still figuring out (and this isn't a complaint, just figuring out how I like it best) are the notifications. I think that I have it down, but we will see.

Thank you for the hard work!

@Jason Stone (Logos) (or whoever else) Just to be clear – has this replaced the previous Feedbear forum for pitching ideas? And second, were all of the votes from feedbear brought over or accounted for in any way?

How do I save this post or follow it without commenting yet?

The only comments I will make now…

    1. I also would like to see more posts on the page than I am seeing now. The old forum it was very easy to see a list, expand that list and see what others are posting that may interest me.
    2. I visit the forums less these days, but not sure if it is because I am not used to the new format or if I am finding it more difficult to quickly peruse.
    3. I know Jason has been listening and making improvements as suggestions have come in. So the forum is better now than when it was first introduced.
    4. Somehow (I really do not know how) I posted this on a different thread. I have no idea how that happened.

Is it not possible to delete a post accidentally uploaded on the wrong thread?

    Great questions, @Danny Zacharias.

We have consolidated the two platforms into one and members can submit new ideas all the same.

All the votes except for anonymous ones have been moved with the ideas.

Posts and comments can be edited for up to one hour after publication but they cannot be deleted, primarily because deleted content can cause gaps in threads and discussions and that results in a poor experience for those looking for support.

How do I save this post or follow it without commenting yet?

Scroll to the top of the conversation and look for the icon that implies a bookmark. Bookmark conversations that you'd like to keep track of. For notifications, ensure that you have enabled notifications for bookmarked items.

I also would like to see more posts on the page than I am seeing now. The old forum it was very easy to see a list, expand that list and see what others are posting that may interest me.

When a member visits a forum for a particular topic, I believe we have 30 discussions per page on the list at present. We can consider adding more.

I visit the forums less these days, but not sure if it is because I am not used to the new format or if I am finding it more difficult to quickly peruse.

I understand that the changes do require some learning. It's a lot of history to migrate and make usable for such a large (growing) number of Logos users. I hope you do continue to visit often!

I know Jason has been listening and making improvements as suggestions have come in. So the forum is better now than when it was first introduced.

We've certainly made a lot of improvements in the six weeks that our new community has been live, and we have much more in store!

    Hello Jason,

I would love to have a swipe function for trackpad users in the Notification. So I can delete the one I have read and don't want to have in the list anymore. And on the other hand, if I can put the blue dot again.

For mouse users to via a right click.

Similar what iOS or MacOS has for Mail, Messages, etc.

    Thanks
