Feature Suggestion on Offline/Online mode, License backup, etc.

I don't know where Logos developers are heading in this, but I would like to suggest the following:

a) license synchronizations and new book downloads are done only in online mode. The user should log in to logos.com first. This would prevent situations - which are possible in version 3 - when a visitor can copy the Logos license backup file and use it for installation on another machine.

b) logos.com password is not automatically saved, unless the user chooses to do so.

  • Good idea. This has been one of my concerns for some time.

This is pretty much already the case; new licenses and books are only downloaded if you are online. Additionally, there is no one file that you can copy to another machine to copy the licenses (and there's no "Backup Licenses" command in the menus). The saved credentials are more like browser cookies (which a sufficiently determined visitor could also copy from your machine if he wanted to log into your email, logos.com and any other site that saves cookies for authentication).

Thanks for the response.  It is good that now licenses are handled automatically.  I think it was discussed in the Logos 3 forums - downloading/installing from online is really convenient.

I also understand the point about cookies.  My cookies and passwords are quite safe in Mozilla Firefox under a master password.  But I think Logos is using MSIE engine, so that data is more open.

Just a checkbox at the logon box - "Save password" - would be enough :-)

Perhaps, the toolbar or program menu may contain a button or menu item "Go online / Go offline",  Then the login and password can be prompted, with the checkbox to save it or not.
