Convert resource/panel toolbars into slide menus

One of the complaints about the new resource toolbar is the amount of space it takes up in the panel. For users who crowd their layouts with multiple panes this has always been a problem. The result is many multi-screen layouts. For many linked resources, there is rarely a need to use the toolbar at all. Therefore, I suggest that the resource/panel toolbars be reduced to the tab and a slide menu with the option to "freeze" the slider in "always show" as one does in Microsoft.

You would have to choose that option with each linked book except the Master, which still needs a Reference box (as with Multi-book View). So you would save one line with the "Slaves" in actual use.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean - in a slide menu the menu items still have values - they simply are not showing. Why is it necessary to see the reference box for "slaves"? If you need to see it, slide the menu out.
