Ok... My apologies for not being clearer... let me explain...

I do "turn off Reverse Interlinear Pane" as you all describe.... and that works... then I "update my layout" so that is saved.

Then I close Logos... and re-open. And guess what? If I click on the Greek symbol.... I get the "Reversed Interlinear Pane" again.

Is there any way to turn off the "Reversed Interlinear Pane" until I want it?

Why do you save the layout and then restart Logos only to click the Greek symbol when you don't want it! Why not wait until you want it?

The layout will be saved prior to exit with the Program Setting At startup Open to: Most recent layout - local.

both interlinears are OFF when I click the drop-arrow next to the Greek symbol; but
the inline Interlinear is ON when I click the Greek symbol!

Something not right, but you can avoid opening the interlinear (select the appropriate one when ready).

I have always seen the Bible Language icon as an on/off button for the reverse interlinear, defaulting to “inline” (I think). The selection arrow allows you to change the default to “pane” or both inline and pane. Therefore, if you turn the interlinear “on” by pressing the button, the interlinear is shown – either with the system default, or the default you have set.

Are you saying that if you:

Choose Interlinear Options (click Down arrow ˅ next to Interlinear icon ).
Clear both “Inline Reverse Interlinear” and “Reverse Interlinear Pane” main options.
Choose Interlinear Options again (click Down arrow ˅ next to Interlinear icon ) to close.
Click Interlinear icon to turn on interlinear.

— The interlinear opens in “Pane” mode instead of “Inline” mode?

If so, have you checked to see if other translations have the same issue for you?

Also, have you checked to see if you have a second copy of the NKJV open as well in that same layout? The second copy may be overriding the default you are attempting to change on the first copy.

I did sense what you were trying to demonstrate, bur it is not displayed when you restart and it is switched "off" in the drop-down! Just avoid clicking the Greek icon until you are ready for it.

Nope. I'm having the same problem. It keeps coming back. To add insult to injury, if I have my Bible pane too narrow, the little arrow divot by the Aleph-Omega doesn't show, so I have to widen the pane to be able to access it and turn it off.

Okay, I think I just figured it out:

I turned it off in one layout and updated the layout.
I opened another layout where the same Bible is there with the option set to show the reverse interlinear pane--but the interlinear Aleph-Omega button is toggled off.
The setting for that Bible from layout #2 persists when I open #1 again.

So, turning it off in #2 and updating that layout fixed it reopening automatically in #1. I think.

Thanks Sean. I have played with it too much can't seem to turn Reverse Interlinear Pane off.. What you seem to be saying... is that if it is on in any layout, then it will be on in every layout. Is that what you are saying?

I have 8 layouts that I work with. I will go through them all and turn Reverse Interlinear Pane off.... I'm not sure it will help though.

Edit: I went through all my layouts, turned off Reverse Interlinear Pane, saved the layout.

And still the RIP persists. I think it needs a "Logos fix"... [8-|]

I'm having the same issue - the Reverse Interlinear Pane consistently reappears, even when I toggle it off and save the layout(s) with it off. Whenever I reopen a layout, the RIP appears at the bottom of the window.

If I'm reading this right, and I read fast so may have missed a point, the OP is trying to get the layout to save settings.

LAYOUTS DO NOT SAVE SETTINGS. 🤢

This is a major design flaw in Logos that I've been screeching about for years. We should be able to save certain settings in a layout (such as interlinear in a bible, etc.) and then retain those settings when we re-open that saved layout even if we changed the settings in that bible while the layout was not open.

Having to re-create a whole bunch of settings to get back to where we were is inefficient and poor design. Please fix this, Logos!!!!

What you are missing is that the thread is 12 months old and the OP was struggling with a bug (in old toolbar) that saw the Inline Interlinear being preferred to the Reverse Interlinear after the layout was saved with no interlinear i.e. that setting was preserved.

My preference for RIP or no interlinear was preserved in v.41.1 Windows with new toolbar, even when changed outside the layout after saving it (via Update Active).

Have you any other examples to back up your assertion that "layouts do not save settings"?

I could not reproduce that as described in my post to @Doc B above. Are you on Mac? Using new resource toolbar?
How did you save the layout? What bible?

I'm on a Mac and using v41.1.

After reading through the thread, I realized that a different layout (an old saved layout that I wasn't using frequently) may be causing the RIP to reappear (I had about 14 layouts saved.). So, I went through every single layout and made sure in every Bible, I closed the RIP, and saved each layout before moving to the next layout. I also deleted six of the layouts. The primary culprit always seemed to be the NKJV reverse interlinear.

Since I cleaned up the layouts, the issue has not reappeared. It makes me wonder why a dormant layout would change the behavior in an active layout - especially one that I'm saving ("update active") before closing.

But, for today, the issue seems to be resolved for me.

Yeah, I do…I use the software!!

I just tried it again, to make sure Logos didn't add the feature then forget to tell us.

Saved this layout with the ESV set to 'show propositional outlines.'

Closed the saved layout and re-opened the ESV…changed the format to not 'show propositional outlines.'

Closed the ESV…reopened the previously saved layout that was set to 'show PO.' They don't show. Not saved. Is that enough evidence, Dave?????
