When I do a search for "Peter" the topic search is listed, and I see the reading list. when I do a search for "First Peter" I do not see the topic search section and the reading list is not listed.

Is this a known issue?

It looks like you have to search for the exact text "first epistle of Peter" to have your reading list displayed; I will find out if "First Peter" can be added as an alias for that query.

First Epistle of Peter did work. I went into topics.logos.com and added First Peter. Still came up as a miss. I'm  not sure if adding the name under "Alternate labels" is what you meant by Aliases though.

Sorry to be unclear: The association of a term/phrase entered in the Search panel (e.g., "first peter") to the topics retrieved for those terms (e.g., "First Epistle of Peter") is controlled by the Logos 4 software directly and can't be changed by editing topics.logos.com.

It would seem like there would be a whole lot of possibilities to account for if it is a manually entered database. I can think of 14 for 1 Peter alone, 1)Peter, First Epistle of, 2)Peter, First Letter of, 3)First Letter of Peter, 4)First Peter, 5)1st Peter 6)1 Peter 7)Epistles of Peter 8)Letters of Peter, 9)First Peter Intro, 10)First Peter Introduction, 11)1st Peter Intro, 12)1st Peter Introduction 13)1 Peter Intro, 14) 1 Peter Introduction. Of these the most likely for me personally to search on is First Peter and 1 Peter, neither of which are hits. The same list could be applied to other books as well. Is this list of aliases something that Logos expects to develop over time? If so how will missed aliases get reported?

What problems would you see with using the alternate labels under the topics.logos.com topics?

    Philip:

As Bradley correctly points out, this is a data bug (we're missing some common names for Bible books). We'll work on getting at least a more complete set for the canonical books of the Bible.

As for topics.logos.com, while we set that up in part to collect alternate labels like the ones you suggest, I don't want to simply adopt anything that somebody contributes without review (because not all contributors have the full context of what we're doing or what a topic "means"). So we'll have to develop an editorial process by which we occasionally review topics.logos.com contributions and then incorporate the ones we want.

I agree 100% with a review process.  I doubt your going to get mass participation in adding them anyway.
