With a powerful tool like Smart Bible search, the obvious place to bring it next is right into your Bible. Released today in the v43 beta, you can now perform a Smart Bible inline search, which will provide Smart search results inline.

If you want to see your Smart Bible inline search results in order of relevance, use the “Send to Search” button to initiate the same Smart search in the Search panel. Likewise, you can now use the "Send to Inline Search" menu option to send Smart Bible search results to your Bible from the Search panel.

Like in the Search panel, Smart Bible inline search will automatically switch to Precise search when we know it more closely aligns to your expectations for the query.

Smart Bible inline search is available on Desktop and Web, with Mobile to follow in an upcoming version. We would love to hear what you think!

“Send to Inline Search” needs to use my existing ESV tab as it opens new tabs with each request. But there is too much text in between results - sometimes a whole panel (neighbour in ESV). And the query needs to be shown by default (it wasn't obvious how to do it).

"Send to Search" does use my tab with "Send searches here".

What would be the organization's relevance criteria? Would it be the context of the original passage (opened in the Bible) or the target passages that's most meaningful or content-rich?

AI is different from traditional computing in that it doesn't use defined algorithms. So, while I could tell you the exact relevancy algorithm used for precise search, I can't do that for Smart Search (not because it's a secret, but because there literally isn't one).

So when we ask the AI to order by relevancy, it's not using a defined algorithm. It's doing something similar to what you and I would do if we were asked to order the verses by relevancy. It's influenced by how clearly the verse speaks to the question asked, and how frequently the verse is spoken of in relation to that topic. But it's not an exact science.

Thanks for this feedback, @Dave Hooton, we appreciate it! When you say

And the query needs to be shown by default (it wasn't obvious how to do it).

I wonder if you have found a bug. When I use either "Send to Search" or "Send to Inline Search" options, the query is shown by default in the query input of the new or receiving tab. Would you mind providing screenshots or even a screen recording of what you are seeing?

@Mark Barnes (Logos), thanks for the explanation. Mark, does Logos utilize a third-party AI (like OpenAI's, for example) that's been customized for Logos, or is it an open-source AI that Logos entirely trains and programs?

This article should answer those questions, especially the section headed, "How does Logos ensure the AI produces a reliable output?".

It has now "settled" to showing the query rather than displaying image.png with the query hidden.
