right click a word problem not acting like I remember

I had a bible open and right clicked the word "sojourner". All I wanted was a quick Merriam Webster definition. Well right clicking it, selects the entire vs. For the life of me I cant seen to click a single work and get a context menu to look up the word in a dictionary. What am I missing? I am not an everyday user I am sure I forget stuff between sessions.

p.s. Logos or Verbum it does not matter. Windows 11, I7, 16gb ram

On the left of the context menu, I expect you have the verse selected (second from the top).

Try just selecting the top option - Selection

On the left side of the context menu click on "selection" rather than "reference". Your choice will be remembered for the next time you right-click.
