just to clarify, I am not manually syncing... the program is syncing and crashes during.
I have tried deleting the Layouts db file... that is to no avail.
From log file contents, would be surprised if deleting Layouts db made a difference.
However, deleting folder ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/zdzbuger.ki3/LibraryCatalog
and deleting file ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Document/LibraryCatalog/LibraryCatalogSync.db => could be different.
Console message content is basis for folder and file deletion idea: LibraryCatalogSync.db and catalog.db files are last database (db) files found before first "database disk image is malformed" error message (5 lines apart) - LibraryCatalogIndex immediately precedes database malformed message. Noticed for a different catalog database issue, Tom Philpot recommended deleting LibraryCatalog folder (vis deleting catalog.db file) - also LibraryCatalog folder has an index file.
Note: after initial database malformed message, later saw couple sync manager messages => file not found - not know if cascading or separate issue.

Before you try KS4J's idea try this.
If you can open Logos4 and quickly turn the internet off in program settings where it says "Use internet" Then open Zephaniah: A Commentary on the Book of Zephaniah (in the logs this is known as HRMNEIA36ZEP, if you pasted that into the command bar it will show it and you can open it from there). Scroll up and down in that book and then turn the internet back on in the program settings window.

Thank you very much for your attention! I know you guys are busy.
That was some progress... I was able to accomplish that by turning my airport off, loading the program, turning off internet setting, scrolling through the book, turning airport back on, then turning the internet setting back on in L4.
It worked for about 10 minutes.
I did notice however that my search is messed up. I searched several terms and got no results.
I also noticed that when I restarted L4 that my indexer came up (blue icon in the top bar) to download 14 mb of something, but immediately went away. The download was not complete.
Now it is back to crashing. Here is the latest log.

I am getting the feeling that Logos is trying to open up to a layout that has the update error with it. I would delete the layouts.db file that KS4J mentioned so that we can try to get the update to finish. If it doesn't automatically start updating after you get L4 to open, run an "update now" and "update resources" command.

Living and learning - likewise appreciate Logos development insights - remembering layouts.db deletion already tried.
In stacktrace set of messages before Logos exits with code 1 - noticed interesting snippet before Logos crash:
"at Libronix.DigitalLibrary.LibraryCatalogIndex.BuildIndexThread (IPausableWorkState state, Libronix.DigitalLibrary.LibraryCatalogIndexData data)"
SQLite online documentation => http://www.sqlite.org/docs.html This SQL dialect includes REINDEX (rebuild index from table data). Using a SQLite Manager add-in for Firefox, opened catalog.db - noticed 24 tables and 24 indexes - could try reindexing each index:
If all 24 indexes can be reindexed, try launching Logos.
If a reindexing fails, earlier idea to delete Library Catalog stuff is an option.

Observation: nothing is both descriptive and vague.
Complete uninstall and re-install is an option - could change from nothing works to something usable.
Within user's (~) Library, Logos has two folders:
~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/
~/Library/Caches/com.logos.Logos_Bible_Software_4
and three files:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.logos.LogosIndexer.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.logos.Logos_Bible_Software_4.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.logos.Logos4Installer.plist
In Applications, resides Logos Bible Software 4.
For complete uninstall, move application, folders, and files to trash - then restart Mac.
Current Logos 4 Mac release can be downloaded from http://www.logos.com/logos4mac
Within Logos4 folder, resources reside in ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<random.stf>/ResourceManager/Resources
Possibility: could move Resources elsewhere, launch Logos, sign-in, cancel download, and use "scan path " command.
Observation: A22.1 has lectionary issue - forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/18663.aspx - A23 should be available in 2 to 3 days.
