Yes, I am copying my templates into a note file with links to the methods supporting them. But for the moment what I really want to share is the Word Study template - this is my current draft trying to deal with some of the problems I see in many word study instructions. I'm really interested in feedback because I'm trying to take advantage of Logos as a way to capture the information. The remainder are (a) alternative inductive Bible study formats (b) the first few senses of Scripture formats and (c) a single "frame of reference" approach in which the term "frame of reference" is used in an unfamilar way.

To show my total ignorance what are these? How are they used?
I understand Word Templates for letters and things, but I don't understand how these help in Bible study.'

The degree to which these are useful depends on several things: (a) when you went to school (b) the purpose of your Bible study and (c) your individual quirks. Taking these in order, for the last 15 years or so teachers have used graphic organizers in the classroom in nearly every subject. You can consider the templates as graphic organizers for Bible study - they automatically force some order on the information a student collects as well as remind the student of the questions they should be asking. Graphic organizers become a simple journal for devotional study - hardly necessary to have a template. Textbooks and professors tend to use them heavily in language and interpretation courses even if they are presented as steps or outlines of a process. Finally, I find them useful in Scripture study classes as a way to convince the timid that they can extract something useful from a reading.
Another way of saying it is that templates/graphic organizers are simply a way to keep a particular Bible study method in the mind of the student. They don't have to keep going back to the article or book to see what they are "supposed" to do next. There are a number of them out on the web from other sources so I am confident this is not just my personal quirk. How I use them in Logos is to do the study i Word and copy it into a note. Some forms, I actually copy the template into a note and fill it out as a note.

Yes viruses can travel on templates although I have tried to minimize the possibility by not using macros. However, I am a retired computer nerd who has had only 1 virus since the 8008 processor - 20 years ago or so. That virus came from an employee on a disk and was spotted and removed less than 5 minutes from introduction. That is not to say I can't get a virus merely that I use reliable anti-virus software that is updated as quickly as possible through the anti-virus software i.e. potentially multiple times within a day.

After your reassurance of no viruses I opened the templates and I understand now.
Sorry for the confusion but there are so many new (to me) things I'm finding on this site that I don't understand. I have realized I needed some of the add-ins and other features offered by Logos that I don't presently have on my computer.

For XP the "normal" place for them is: C:\Documents and Settings\name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates but as long as you know where they are to navigate to them, it's no critical.

Thanks for the templates. I just found this post. I wish we had more sharing like this on the forums. You have done a lot of work on the formats and questions. WOW! I teach in several different venues and am looking at incorporation (probably with a little modification) some of these in assignments for my learners. When I get some of these worked out I plan to post them to the forum.

Will these templates work with Word 2010 (I'm using the current trial version). If so, where would be the best place to extract them to so that they would be in the list of available templates?

I like your templates. However, I prefer freeplane mind maps to traditional documents. So I converted your templates to .mm format.

freeplane can be downloaded at http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page. The map should also open in freemind. This map has all the templates in your zip except for the word study -- I'm going to have to ponder that one for a while to see if I can adapt it to a map. The footnotes in your documents are found in node notes. I also added the template that Rosie pointed to, but I tweaked it a little.
