The static set of Reading Plans are insufficient and the ability to create our own custom reading plans is needed.
Reading plans need to be self-created, customizable and sharable with others.
A reading plan keeps one in the Word, but linear or sequential and fixed time-frames is not flexible enough.
A reading plan should bbe abble to be created ad-hoc which lets the creator specify all aspects of the reading experience: content by translation, book, chapters (or even passages by chapter-verse ranges), the content source (translation) on a passage/chapter/book basis, the intended time-frame to read the entire plan, and repeatable and copyabble sections of the plan within the plan.
I should be able to read the same book, chapter, or verse-range-passage in 5 different versions of Bible translations all in one plan, one after another, all in the same plan.
I should be able to create a plan which is just the New Testament, or a book I specifiy, Mark, or Jeremiah, or a specific chapter or set of chapters, or set of passages based on a source translation, chapter and verse from-and-to-range.
Flexibility & Customization: This is what is needed.
A fixed by Reading plan is not flexible enough.
If one wants to concentrate on a single book, in multiple translations, or a single chapter (or range) in multiple translations, the Reading plan should facliitate such creative ways of reading thru the plan.
Or, like reading thru gathered or specified passage lists but in a customized Reading Plan.
Static, fixed length Reading plans miss opportunites for people to study the Bible in so many other ways with rigor and interest.
Topical reading plans would be helpful as well.
But start with the customized Reading Plan that lets me choose what I want to read and over what time frame, not locking me into pre-determined fixed reading plans.
A sharable plan which is available for others to choose from a library of submitted plans would be helpful as well. And if the plan doesn't suit me, or uses translations I don't want, I should be able to easily replace in my customized version of the plan all "KJV" to "NASB" or "ESV" or whatever translation I prefer, without affecting the core structure of the shared plan itself.
How is it that LOGOS has been around for so long, and this customization of reading plans has not already been implemented as a feature? How? It makes no sense to me the Reading Plans are fixed-only and non-customizable. Its nuts!
