Native support for Windows on ARM

Release a version of Logos that runs natively on ARM-based Windows 10 devices, such as the Surface Pro X.

Emulation of Windows x64 apps is not currently supported on ARM64, so Logos doesn't run at all. Even when it is supported, a native ARM64 version should be faster.

I recently invested in a Microsoft Surface Pro X and was informed by its Support that the Logos cannot be installed on the Pro X, due to different operating system. Will there be any possibility of that being possible in the future. I have a Logos 9 account.

@ppainter1958-88 There is no ETA. The status of this suggestion will be updated to "In Progress" when it's being worked on, and "Done" when it's available. (FWIW this suggestion currently needs a lot more customer feedback in order to be prioritised. It sounds like Windows 11 is going to provide an adequate emulation solution, so we will be recommending that for now.)

@bradley-grainger I too just bought a Surface X (after using Logos in my Surface 7 for years). I was shocked to discover my new surface (which I upgraded totally so I could improve my logos performance) doesn't run logos...

You need to release ARM based installers for Windows. You have done this for Mac, so why not Windows?

Any updates on this? I have a surface pro x, and running logos 10 free is extremely slow and very difficult to use. I think windows on ARM will become more prevalent, and designing for ARM would be preparing for the future. Please help!

We need support for windows 11 on ARM64. My windows 11 on Arm is emulating the experience and it is causing Logos10 to be laggy. Not unresponsive, but delayed responsive. Its quite annoying.

Today is the day! Microsoft (and many other vendors like Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, etc) announced their answer to Apple's M-series computers ... Copilot+ PCs. Today the computers announced all run on the Snapdragon Elite X ARM processor. There supposed to be as fast as Apple's Mac Air M3s. Microsoft is serious this time!!!

What does this mean for Logos Bible Sofware (and me)? I will be looking for an ARM compiled version of Logos! Until then, my Windows Logos software will have to be emulated (just like software had to be when the M1 processor was first released), which means slower 😒.

My Surface Laptop 7 with the Elite X ARM processor will be delivered Jun 18th. So, Logos, what's the plan?

I have been dying to run the full version of Proclaim on a tablet! I have a Copilot+PC Surface Pro on order and am looking forward to running Proclaim on it! I'd love to have it run ARM64 native for improved performance/battery life.

The newest Windows laptops/Microsoft Surface devices are shipping in 2-3 weeks. They have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor which is at or above Apple M3 performance. Just wondering if desktop app compatibility is on the roadmap yet? https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/windowsapps

Microsoft tried ARM laptops for the first time a few years ago, but no other OEM followed suit. This time, as someone already noted above, it is different with multiple companies offering the new chipsets.

With Microsoft going all-in on AI, the chips they use will focus more on neural processing units (NPUs) to run AI processes in the background. However, that has to be done efficiently for battery life.

The new emulation will likely be much better than before, but native support would be incredible, given the size of the libraries/resources accessed, etc. I really hope Logos is already working on support for ARM devices as they are likely the future.

I have the new Surface Pro Copilot+PC Snapdragon X Elite with 32GB Ram / 1TB drive. The current non-ARM based Logos app (34.1.9) will install and run as x64 in emulation mode through Prism automatically, you don't have to do anything. It installed just fine, and my library is over 22gb in size and took ~30m to index, which is to be expected. In terms of performance, it's running fine--I can't tell that it's running on an emulation layer. Searching is snappy, scrolling is smooth, and this is with several books open. I don't even have Power Mode set to "Best Performance" either, just the "Recommended" default setting. I'm looking forward to the native ARM build of the app, but for now, X64 in emulation is just fine, and we'll see how it performs over the next few weeks.

Is there any update on providing native support for Windows on ARM? I wasn't aware of the differences when I purchased my new laptop, and now my Logos is running with a lag.

Please can I ask if there are updates on this? Even if it's just to say there are no plans or to say that there is a plan in the pipeline. ARM chips are getting more common with the new line of Copilot snapdragon PCs. And sadly Logos just runs so poorly on my laptop that it's making it hard for me to be efficient when trying to do deep dives.

Please, give an update on this. We now have a HUGE amount of Windows laptops on ARM. This is not the same as it was years ago with the 3-4 laptops that came out. We now have like 30 arm laptops. And more and more programs with arm support. PLEASE add this to "planned" especially with the subscription we are paying.

I was all set to purchase the new MS Surface Laptop 7 but changed my mind at the last second because of this issue.

So I purchased a Dell XPS 16 Laptop instead, just to be safe.

One more question… Does this issue also affect the Logos app on phones?

I'm planning on purchasing the soon-to-be released Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra next Jan/Feb. It will feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset. Will the Logos app work okay on it.

I'd like to update to a Surface Pro 11 computer with Windows ARM but want to be sure Logos will run decently on it. This is now a common enough scenario that Logos should test performance and be able to give an accurate idea of the performance hit when run in emulation mode—until a native Windows ARM version is available.

I just want to add a comment concerning the new devices using Snapdragon processors. Please Logos add support natively for this. I've wondered for years now why Logos is so quick to support Apple in their endeavors but not other brands. I remember even going from Apple to Samsung (ipad Pro m1-Samsung tab s8 ultra) and experiencing only limited features and extremely lagging performance.

As someone who is deeply interested in purchasing a new ARM device for battery life as im on the go so much, id appreciate this. For now ill continue using my Legion 5 Slim with a power hungry 4060…lol. Thankfully I can turn it off and 64gb RAM does wonders for my million tabs and logos.

What windows laptop does Logos recommend for running their software?

I may have to get a different Bible Program. If so, are there Bible programs that run with Windows ARM?

Just wanted to add my voice here and say I’d really love to see native Logos support for ARM-based Windows devices—especially the Surface Pro line and the new Copilot PCs coming out.

As a Lutheran pastor and teacher, Logos is part of my everyday life—for sermon prep, study, teaching, and pastoral care. I’ve been seriously thinking about picking up a new Surface Pro for the portability, battery life, and clean design (also trying to simplify my tech and move away from smartphones). But honestly, the lack of native ARM support for Logos is the one thing holding me back.

I know it runs great on Apple’s M-series chips, which is awesome. It’d just be a huge win to see that same kind of support on Windows as more of us move to ARM-based devices for daily work.

Thanks for all you’re doing to keep Logos sharp and responsive—hoping this gets on the roadmap.

It might not breach 13% of the PC market but this is still a lot of users. Likely similar to Mac. The question is what is the percentage of Logos users. Every new Microsoft Surface PC will be arm. And I think this is likely going to be a primary device for logos windows users.

One year since its release, I am planning to go ahead and order a Surface 7 laptop with the Snapdragon x elite chip and 32GB of RAM. Any updates on how smoothly I can expect Logos to run via emulation on this device? Are there any major concerns running Logos (mainly for passage guide, searches, and sermon builder) with this chip in June 2025? Or is it now reasonably safe to go ahead with an ARM based computer?

My Surface Laptop 2 died, and I just got a Surface (Surface Pro, Copilot+ PC - Snapdragon® X Elite (12 Core), with OLED display, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD). I am running Logos Max with over 5,000 resources and haven't had a problem. The one sticking point is that after it adds resources, it indexes as normal until around 96%, and then it seems to be hung up - but it isn't. That last little bit simply takes longer than you would expect.

But so far, everything is running smoothly.

I also am voting for a ARM based Logos update! Just ordered the new MS Surface and would LOVE to not have it run in emulation mode in the near future. The future of chipsets are moving toward ARM for its power and efficiency, so let's get ahead of the curve Logos and get an ARM based version out and ready to go! You have already done so with the MAC version, so, get the team working on the windows based one too…

On my surface (see comment above) it usually claims it's indexing when I start the app, but it works fine and the indexing time isn't bad…a few minutes. I'm happy enough at present.
