Pre-Pub Status and "In Production"

Question

In my Pre-Pub orders, almost ALL show as In Production, but have not been downloaded or completed. Some of these date back to 2024.In addition the dates seem to keep getting pushed back for release on several.

Anyone else have some like these? I am wondering if I should just cancel them.

"There is no proof that the book will be any good." Many, if not most,  of the books on preorder have already been published in print. You can find myriad reviews, blurbs, etc.

"pre-purchases is basically giving money to rich people to help mitigate their risk to help them get more rich" Yes, so many academic and religious authors are rich /s. But this is not the way it works, you don't get charged until it ships.

"go-fund-me style crowd funding" This is not an accurate description. We're not paying an author ahead of time to go out and write the back. We're giving Logos a signal that we're interested in having them bring the (most often already published) book to Logos.

You are not charged for the prepub until the book is delivered to you.

The only instance where your statement holds true is with some prepubs produced by Logos where they charge you for your pre purchase and til this day there are quite a few books that have not been delivered yet.  But for the most part, most prepubs don’t get charged until they are released.
