ESV font boxes

Member Posts: 1,458 ✭✭✭

I'm having a problem with a font box in the ESV Interlinear. I am using Vista with all the recommended fonts so it shouldn't have this problem. I am attaching a picture below of the word dust in Genesis 2:7. Cf. Euphrates in v14.

I have the same problem, also using Vista and MSOffice 2007. I see boxes also in the info-panel and some other places. It started to be a problem in Beta 2 or even 3, I am not sure. Definitely it was not from the beginning of Beta.

I'm not having any problems with boxes in the program itself, just the Interlinear. The same problem is apparent in the NASB so it is the font, not just one resource.

I have the same problem and I've tried to change all of the fonts and nothing works...

    Here is my example:

I see what you mean. It is definitely a system font problem as you can see from the example below. When I mouse over the Yale Anchor article preview it displays incorrectly but when I go to the actual article the "hat" on the i displays correctly.

I have the same problem in the Interlinears. Another example in Biblical things:

Set the Hebrew transliteration to "SB Academic".

    Restart L4.

If you want a simpler transliteration, try SBL Glottal.

Thank you Stephen, yes, that change made the correction. Good to know. Thank you. Have a nice day.

Yes, that did the trick and I didn't need to restart L4. I just closed all my resources and changed it and then opened the ESV again and it was fine. The Biblical People resource is ok to BUT the mouse over still comes up with a box. I don't dare restart L4 in case it wants to re-index so I will wait until next time I have to reboot my computer :).

We know about this character (I think it's supposed to be p with a combining macron above); as far as I know, it's the only Hebrew transliteration character not supported by our standard UI font.

Thanks Bradley. In the Anchor Yale hover as mentioned above it is the ı̂ that is displayed incorrectly although in Genesis I don't know what it is supposed to be. When I switched to the SBL Academic font, as suggested, the box is removed but nothing is added to the word.

Thanks Tom ~  This is a known issue which will be resolved.  ~ Melissa
