What's ironic is you know darn well that by the time it closes and goes to PrePub it will have closed at $25 Everyone should just bid the $30 and let's get on with it!

The little dot is finally sitting on the 60% line. This is the biggest movement that I have seen in Barnes since I started watching it a very, very long time ago. If it goes for $30 (or less), this is incredible value for 10,000 pages. I would sure like to see this one get on the blog as well to see if it can be put into production.

That does not matter, if they are still customers Logos will charge their current card when it ships.0 -
Logos will charge their credit card whether they are customers or not. Only if they cancel their order will the transaction be cancelled. On the other hand, they should receive an e-mail when it moves to Pre-Pub and shortly before they are billed. This will give them time to cancel the order.

That does not matter, if they are still customers Logos will charge their current card when it ships.
The card may be active, but the card expiration date on file has probably expired.

When a pre-pub is about to ship, Logos sends you an email with an opportunity to update your credit card info before they attempt to charge it. Presumably if the charge doesn't go through (card has expired or is no longer active) you would not get the pre-pub. So it's always important to ensure you keep your credit card info on file up-to-date and take those reminder opportunities to double check.

Lester, the odd thing is that I have read that Barnes has experienced by far the MOST participation of any pre-pub. It's not that people don't want it. It's that people are not bidding enough for Logos to cover costs. I just upped my bid the other day by $5. (not a lot, I know). Wonder what would happen if every bidder did that?

I'm in at $90. I've used this for years at the libray and in the previous bible software I used. I really would like to get it tied in with logos instead of having to have two programs open.
I did a quick search and found that studylight. org has Barnes notes where they can be viewed online http://www.studylight.org/com/bnn/ . Maybe if you are trying to see if it is worth it this will help.

No problem. It is determined based on the current percentage for the $10 level. Since any bid counts as a bid for the price you are bidding as well as a bid for every price below your bid, then the lowest price point represents bids by everyone who has bid on the resource at any price. Knowing that, you can extrapolate what price the resource could go for based on the total number of bidders.
Using Barnes for the example, we can tell that the $10 price point is currently slightly over 30% of the way to covering production costs. Since a $30 bid covers 3x the costs of a $10 bid, that would mean that if everybody who has bid at least $10 changes their bid to at least $30, the $30 level would cover over 90% of the costs...or if everybody moved to $35 or higher, then the $35 level would be at 3.5 x 30%(+) or 105%.

I agree with your comments about it costing more than any other CP product to date. It is far larger than anything else that has been offered on CP and therefore the production costs are higher. With that said though, there are enough bidders in the current pool to cover production costs at $35 or come very close to covering them at $30. The "problem" is that a number of them are still sitting on bids between $10 and $25. I'm not saying that people should bid more than their current bid if they don't think it is worth more than that, I'm just pointing out that it can be accomplished with the current number of bidders...and at a good price.

I have upped my bid twice now and am currently sitting at $60. I agree that if all the people who have bid $10 or $15 upped their bid to $30 or $40, we'd get over the top. And as well all know, once it gets over the top and there's a final deadline, there's a sudden rush of all the others who don't want to be left out, and then the price usually goes down some more. Logos says the estimated pre-pub price is $89.95, so even if it ends up going in CP for $40 it would be under half that. And I'm guessing we can get it for $30 or less.
So, low-ball bidders, up your bid!
