- Realize that there is a lot of bug reporting on this forum because that is what the Beta process is for - it is going to be heavily weighted with bug reports. Personally, I have been using L4Mac since Alpha 16 or so and have found the Beta's to be very stable and functional. The few bugs I have run into (during Alpha) were handled very efficiently by the developers.
- Buy now.
- Patiently endure the initial download and indexing (which you'll have to do whether now or later). This seems to be a necessary(?) evil of the software - and is not a good first impression for many users who make their purchase with eager anticipation and then cannot drive it off the lot but have to wait for it to be delivered.
- Use it, love it.
Should i buy now or wait until the lag problems etc are solved ?
Don't by now!
I am afraid you are too late and have missed the boat.
Over the last six months users have formed a great little community with chats going back and forth about crashes, logs, updates and restarts.
Now the whole thing is like the end of a party - a few hangers on wanting a last drink of 'exporting highlights' or 'usable help-files' but mostly people have wandered off home satisfied but facing the prospect of work in the morning.
No longer can we prevaricate due to crashes and non-starts – now we have to get on with actually using the software.
The 'blessed' program hasn't gone wrong for me in ages.
All rather depressing really.
I live in hope that Logos will produce a 'worship projection suite' that will be as buggy as Alpha one and get the whole thing started again.
Best wait for that.

No longer can we prevaricate due to crashes and non-starts – now we have to get on with actually using the software.Mike, I recognized your problem immediately, because I suffer from it as well. When the windows version left private beta and went gold, I was left feeling empty, though there were still many requests to be made and responded to.

But here's hope Mike: I would venture to guess that there will in the future continue to be a Mac Beta, and hope of all hopes, sometimes it will actually crash and you'll get to report bugs, yes, real bugs! Oh, the rapture of it all!
But then, yes I too suffer the cold reality that sometimes I just have to work and that Logos, despite my best attempts to crash it, is working just fine.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
Mike, I think it was Cameron who previously referred to all of us as alphaholics. He was right, you know!Should i buy now or wait until the lag problems etc are solved ?Don't by now!

i think the price went up compared to this weekend?
I guess i waited too long :-(
No! It is still free.
It's the books that cost!
Are you running Logos in Windows anywhere?
If so any books on your account will be downloaded automatically.

If you can afford it now, I'd say buy now. The price is only going to go up when the special deals come to an end. And as it stands, the program is quite usable. There are still bugs and glitches to work out and optimization to be done, but the result will be an increasingly usable product. In the meantime, you can benefit now from a good program and from great savings.
Buy now, Beta 10 is very close to the L4 Win version with few problems and all the updates to the final release next month are free. Please read up on the installation process, as indexing and downloading can take some time... 4-8 hours. Be patient during this process as the rewards are great. Enjoy!
I have resisted buying the product since the start of the year - but will be placing my order before the official release date.
Even mainstream programs, such as Office Mac for example, are always being updated due to bugs and security issues - but does that stop most of us buying such programs?

If you own Logos 4 for Windows, is there any charge to use the Mac version?Strictly speaking, you don't license "Logos 4 for Windows" or "Logos 4 for Mac". You license a collection of resources (a Logos 4 base package) that you can use on Windows, Mac, iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) or biblia.com. Not all resources are available on the iOS devices and/or biblia.com.

overall the reviews have been mixed so far
Should i buy now or wait
I also purchased around Alpha 9 or 10. And was disappointed in the performance and usability. Patience is a virtue that has paid off big. Being new to Logos not just the Mac version, I guess I don't really know what more I have to look forward to. I have never used the PC version. I am very satisfied with both the performance and the usability of this product at this point. Every update going forward is just icing.
Great Replies everybody, just one more question can i install it at home on my imac as well as on my mac book pro since i travel half the month and would like to take the word t with me ?Yes.

Fritz,
Buy now!
You are licensed for both Mac and Windows, so you don't have to buy a specific version. The beta is coming along well... I use it with hardly a glitch for all my day-to-day work. (I have stopped firing up Parallels to run the Windows version on my Mac for well over a month or so.) And, the final release version ships October 1st.
Reason #2 to buy now: Special pricing to celebrate the upcoming Mac ship date!
Best part yet: Logos has a money-back guarantee.
Go for it! You can't lose! [H]

Hello Thomas,
I noticed your comment on the Logos Forum and wanted more info. I just purchased a Mac and want to transfer my Logos to it. I was thinking that I would have to use Parallels, but you said that I would have a Mac license. How did you go about installing your logos mac version without loosing anything. I have my resources on an external drive and wondered if I had to do something to make them accessible to the new Mac version once I install it. Any help you can give would be deeply appreciated!
Dave
Rosie's advice includes Wiki article that has Copy Logos 4 Windows Resources to Mac OS X section:
Alternative is download and install Logos 4 Mac => http://www.logos.com/logos4mac then sign-in with Logos account - download all resources and Logos 4 information sync'd to Logos servers. Good idea to wait for resource download and indexing to complete before using Logos 4.
EDIT: Keep Smiling beat me to it. I replied before I saw that post!
Just download the Mac version from www.logos.com/logos4mac, install it and log in. The program will automatically download your resources onto your Mac and then the your library will be indexed. (That part takes a few hours or so depending on the speed of your Mac.) That's all there is to it.
You can keep your Windows copy installed and use it, and you can install it on as many of your PCs or Macs as you wish, as long as YOU are the one using it.
