Bible Text Only

I have searched the forum over for the answer to this question and cannot find it so I am just going to ask.

Is there a way to get Bible Text Only? I want to see it just like it appears in L3.

Also when you paste a verse into your notes or here the numbers/letters are not superscript although they are in the text. In this case the c is not superscript. I have had some trouble in notes with this as well.

(examples...bpersecuted, athe, blabored, cnot)

9 For I am athe least of the apostles, 1and not fit to be called an apostle, because I bpersecuted the church of God.

10 But by athe grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I blabored even more than all of them, yet cnot I, but the grace of God with me.

I'm assuming you mean the copy bible verses dialog?

    1. Type: "Show copy bible verses" in the commandbar (no quotes)
    2. Right after the word "copy" in the dialog is a blue underlined word, click it (mine says quotation)
    3. select Bible Text only (see image)
    4. You're golden.

Also when you paste a verse into your notes or here the numbers/letters are not superscript although they are in the text. In this case the c is not superscript.

Do the same steps except select "create custom style"

Then find where you would want the superscript and wrap it in the "sup" tag.  For instance:  [FullVerseRef]

I like this but I simply want the Bible Text Only button from L3 so I can drag and drop verses into my notes without all of the other markings. Unless I am missing something the ability to do this is gone and replaced by the Copy Bible Verses function under tools because if you get the other markings it is not practical.

I like the way your selection appears in the Copy Bible Verses box but you can't drag and drop into your notes from there. I guess I am more of a drag and dropper than a click and paster.

As far as the superscript when I drag and drop directly  from the NASB I want the text markings to be superscripted if I am not going to have the option for Bible Text Only as I did in L3.

Thanks for your help! Your answers are always helpful!

    Ed,

<slap location=forehead>Honestly I've never tried to drag and drop a verse into my word processor!</slap>.

But I just did, dragged John 11:55 with super-scripted footnotes over to Openoffice.org and the letters remained super-scripted.

As for a Bible text only button in L3.  I'm not sure what you're talking about.  When I drag and drop text from there, I get not only the footnotes (still super-scripted in Openoffice) but also all of the footnote text.

I can accomplish something in the copy bible verse dialog in both versions, but I guess you're doing something I've never tried.

Thomas  or anyone else reading my fault here I am expecting you to read my mind. Drag and drop them into a Logos Note file and see if they stay superscripted my efforts have not been so super, this is the only place I am having an issue. I may be one of the few that actually likes the notes. I actually like using the note feature in Logos and dropping the verses in there with a drag and drop is something I would like to be able to do, although, I can live with a click and paste after I stew for a while <g>.

On a different note, sorta, I have wondered what it would be like if notes, clippings and handouts, tagging and favorites were all incorporated into one feature which would be notes. What would it look like? I know Logos has the position that they do not want a Word Processor but what if the goal was to get something that would be a really slick handout that you could export to a Word Processor. I think I could get more use out of them if they were all developed into one feature but I have just started to think about what this would look like and it probably isn't a possibility anyway.

Since I am on a roll here I will throw in a praise. I really like the Bibliographic Info and how it is displayed in a clipping. It doesn't take up any room and everything is there and the way you turn the page over just has style.

    Hi Ed,

When you select text in a Bible and drag and drop it into a note, you're saying that the footnote letters and numbers do not stay superscripted?   When I try this, they do come over superscripted. I'm curious if you're using a different Default Font in resources or notes? Also, what Bible are you copying from, so I can try to reproduce exactly.

To copy text without foonotes, the Copy Bible Verses Copy option with any of the formats will work to Paste into note. The 'Bible Text Only' format will also leave out verse numbers.

    Thanks,
    Melissa

    Melissa,

Try it this way. Do a drag and drop from NASB  to a Logos note file and see if it works for you. If I copy and paste everything is fine it is just with a drag and drop into Logos Notes.

Looks like it might only happen with the Times New Roman Font which is what I typically use. No problem to change though. Any idea why it would not work with that font?

With Times New Roman, footnote indicators in only the first verse in a chapter come over non-superscript for me, but subsequent verse footnotes are superscripted. I'm not sure why that font behaves differently, but I can look into it.

I like notes Ed [:D],  to the point I have strongly pushed over the years for them not be be neglected but improved.  I see some good things happening with 'notes' as a concept in L4.  In terms of actual note files I am happy with the level of 'word processing' functionality currently offered by note files. I think if one needs more features then either a dedicated notes program or word processor should be used.  Notes though should offer simple way of exporting the data so that it can be accessed in a word processor packaged and further 'marked up'.   I don't want to hijack this thread though  so will offer some expanded commments on notes in another thread real soon.
