Word Counts for Bible Word Study (Hebrew)
Can anyone explain why the word counts in the following are different? I realize it is difficult to see the upper RH number but it is 56. The Hebrew word is פדה

The graph takes results from AFAT (click on the 56!)
The other result is from BHS 4.x, your favourite Hebrew bible.

I'm not sure what AFAT means. The graph that opens up when I click on that bar is from the NASB95.
Do you or does anyone know if the hit counts different because of a differing underlying Hebrew text or for some other reason?

AFAT = Anderson-Forbes Analysed Text...
When you run a bible word study and type in some hebrew letters, it offers you a list of different lemmas to search from AFAT and the graph results from this search, notice here that AFAT has two different lemmas for פדה, separating nominal and verbal forms...
The difference in the counts arises from the slightly difference lexical/morphological analyses, try running these bible searches:
BHS WHM 4.x: <lemma = lls/he/פדה>,
AFAT: <Lemma = af/he/פדה/1>
AFAT: <Lemma = af/he/פדה/2>
Numbers 3:46-51 is an excellent case in point, if you open up BHD WHM and AFAT alongside each other you can see how the different teams have parsed the 6 פדה words slightly differently based on interpretation rather than morphology...
The thing I don't get is that if you right click one of the forms in v46,48, 51 in BHS which parses it as a noun ("redemption price") with lemma פְּדוּיִם, and then search for that lemma in BHS it comes up with no results... This doesn't make sense to me. [*-)]

Different underlying Hebrew text and/or morphology! As it appears you don't have AFAT bible L4 uses NASB95 which has the same Andersen-Forbes (af) morph in the OT. BHS 4.x uses Westminster morph & gets 60 results.

Nor me.
The lemma in BHSMORPH v51 is clearly wrong - I sent a typo report.

Jon and Dave,
Thanks for the answer. I hadn't thought of underlying morphology as being the issue.
