disable Lectionary
Is there a reason we can't remove the preferred Bible and lectionary from the home page? I only need to set the preferred Bible one, and I never use a lectionary.

Short answer..Bob thinks it needs to be there... I am not conviced of the value myself.

I'm with Andrew...beyond the first time no need. (perhaps when the initial Bible is selected, a new user in training-wheels mode can somehow be taught the prioritize system, which they'll need to know).

I agree that after the initial setup you should not see it on the home page, but rather under the Tools|Settings. It takes up real estate on my notebook that I'd rather have for the home page information. I also don't use a lectionary and feel a bit annoyed seeing it up there (although I have repositioned it so I don't see it without scrolling over to it).
Bob if you want it on the home page then make it optional like other segments of the home page. Then you satisfy more users by allowing those who use lectionaries to beable to display it, and those who don't we can hide it. It was a real nice aspect of L3 to be able to customize that.

I'm also for hiding the preferred bible and lectionary if they've already been chosen.

Have you all tried dragging and dropping the features on the home page Customize menu to reorder them on the home page ribbon? That way you would only see the Preferred Bible chooser and Lectionary if you click the right arrow on the side of the ribbon, but your Reading Plans and Recent Reading Lists would still be visible.

Melissa,
I have done that but for me....I guess it's a waste of screen real estate....that's all.
If there were more things to choose from then I'd probably change my mind, but the current choices don't thrill me.
Leaving the bible up there after you've chosen seems like it just doesn't make sense at all, and while I like the lectionary, I guess it's just weird being up there for me....I don't know...

On my wide-screen monitor, all four options are visible whenever the home page is open. Reordering them doesn't get rid of what I don't want/need to see.
But I don't use the home page (didn't in L3 either), except to check out functionality during the beta program. And I'm so glad L4 now opens to my last session.
