Logos for iPhone 1.5.1 Release Notes

New

  • Red letter text optional

Improved

  • Stay on same reference when switching between Bible and study notes
  • Navigate to Bible references in commentaries where the commentary doesn’t have the exact reference
  • Navigating in downloaded books is faster
  • Scale of downloaded book text matches online books

Fixed

  • CKJ text wraps correctly for popups and online books
  • Downloading very large books, e.g. ESV Study Bible, on devices other than iPhone 4 may have caused the app to crash
  • If your primary Bible has been downloaded, but not updated for version 1.5, Bible reference popups would not display correctly
  • On iPhone OS 3.1, some characters appeared as boxes in books that had been downloaded
  • Some books, e.g. MacArthur Study Bible for NASB, caused a crash after they had been downloaded
  • Cancelling the book being downloaded caused downloads to stop, though the network indicator still displayed

    Thanks for the prompt update!

Scale of downloaded book text matches online books

I'm seeing much larger text than I would like, even at the smallest size. I only get about six Bible verses on my screen at a time. In my other BibleReader app, I can set the text size to about 10 verses, and on the iPhone 4, that's still very readable.

    Dave,

The update fixed my issue where The Christian's Secret of a Holy Life had the title and date missing on the offline copy.  Not only is it back now but it no longer overwrites one on the other like the online version does.  I really appreciate this!

If I adjust the font size to the smallest, I can get 9-10 verses on my iPod Touch 4g using the ESV.

I agree Mark. I have the text set to the smallest setting, and could do with it being even smaller.

Here's two screenshots. At the top, Logos at it's smallest setting. Underneath, my other Bible app which has my preferred setting. I'd like Logos to go down to at least this size.

Thanks for fixing these problems so quickly (and pleasantly surprised the update gets through Apple's process so fast).

I'm now able to download the Holman Bible Atlas without a problem.

Chinese text now wraps correctly in popups.  However, it would be nice if it has the same fine font that's used for the CUV display in normal reading view.

    Thanks again!

I'm on a 2nd gen iPod Touch with OS 4.2 and Logos 1.5.1. My app still crashes when trying to download certain resources (usually one of "Images From..." resources). I have about 340 resources in my library and since I'm not often near wi-fi, I like to download as many of them as I can.

    -Context is iPod Touch-

In version 1.5 and now 1.5.1 when I launch the app it goes directly into "read" of the last book I had open even if I quite the application on "home" or "library", etc.

This seems to delay startup greatly.

Is this a "on purpose" new feature? The previous version launched into whatever I was last using when I closed the app.

Expect font and text size improvements in a release in the near future.

I'll look into this, but you don't have to wait for the read view to load; you can tap the screen and go somewhere else in the app.

One of the frustrations is that this doesn't always work. Imagine I'm reading a book that I don't have available offline. Then next time I load Logos I have a very poor signal. It will try to load that book in, and nothing I press will make a difference for perhaps 15 seconds or so.

This has been my experience quite frequently.

Are there any plans to give us the option of offline mode, I prefer to use only the items i have downloaded. I know I would not have the passage guide or other fancier features, but it would  really be better for me.
