Bible Explorer - Good and Bad
With the new commentary section I can use this instead of the PG for a lot of my needs. However it still needs tweaking:
1. Media section is filled with less than relevant info (see below). Perhaps put the media underneath the Person, Place or Thing that generated the hit. Or get rid of it altogether...we can get to the media by clicking on the Person. Seeing every media item that references Jesus every time Jesus is mentioned isn't that helpful.
2. Cross references should be broken out by relevant verse when the main passage is more than one verse
3. Commentary section finds every commentary that has a matching reference. Please limit to top 5 or so. It currently takes 30 seconds to show this section.

I agree. Not a very helpful report in my experience, so I simply haven't been using it. I might start now that it has the commentary section...but honestly I'll just probably use a custom guide since the commentaries are the only thing on there I'd want to use. The others just generate too much extraneous information that rarely relates to the passage.

I like the concept of the bible explorer but agree it needs some tweaking. a lot of NT passages are going to have some reference to Jesus and we don't really need all these irrelevant media resources been showing up.. Looking at the explorer for Eph 2:1-10 there is not a lot there that useful at all in the media in terms of the passage and would much rather only see something if if is directly related to the passage or directly related to a parrallel passage if it exists..
Side thought: Parrallel passags is something that is not on there that might be useful , at least when looking at passages in the gospels.
To my understanding the bible explorer is suppossed to be a 'quick passage guide' . Not only do I want to only see media relevant to the active verse range/parrallel verse range I only want to see a quick list of top commentaries rather than all commentaries and agree with you also Todd on comments about cross references.
If i decide I want to look at the active passage in further depth then there should be a link on the bible explorer to open up a full passage guide to do so with the option of right clicking and choosing a custom guide as an alternative.

Todd and others:
Our developers have made some improvements to the Bible Explorer in beta 7, notably how the People, Places & Things are ranked, and how the media are ranked. The list of commentaries is also shortened. I'd be interested to see if you like to improvements.

Thanks for fixing the commentary section.
It looks like some work has gone into the Media section... it is much better. I would still remove all Jesus-related media that does not directly reference the passage being explored (or at least the book). It's just irrelevant info.
I would ask ask that you take off "generate handout"...that doesn't seem useful for what the BE window is designed for.
I would still like to see the cross references organized verse by verse. They are fairly useless as it is right now unless the main passage is only one verse long since there's no way to tell which cross reference goes with which verse.
I have the same problem with the PG cross reference section too, fwiw. If I want cross references, I usually open up TSK or NTSK, and link it to my bible--it's much more useful than the PG or the BE as it is right now.

Agree with Todd on all counts: remove Generate Handouts; Get rid of extraneous Jesus info in Media.
Please get rid of My Content.
Set to automatically NOT follow.
I like the way it remembers collapsed section states the same as the Passage Guide
