Devotionals & Reading plans: Default Behavior When Opening
I like the default behavior of the devotionals to open up to a double panel with the devotional and the scripture discussed.
I, however, hate the default behavior on the reading plans. I have stopped clicking the link in the reading plan and rather manually navigate to the referenced section because I dislike it so much.
I could imagine some people like the default behavior on one or both. Could you give us a customization option to override the default behaviors for opening these. I think very few people will appreciate their workspace layout being hijacked and changed.
As an alternative/meantime-fix,
would you enable a feature where CTRL-clicking the reading plan or the devotional would simply open it up into our current layout?
I would prefer the option to designating a layout for a reading plan to open into, but the CTRL-click option would be better than nothing.

Not Me!!!!
Excerpts from the home page function the same. Open the resource and a bible and close everything else!!!
Why oh why did you institute this "Design Feature"? It is a design flaw.

Damian, the poitn of my post is that I too dislike the feature of overriding everything. Although I generally like what happens with devotionals, that is just me. I hate what happens with reading plans, and I am asking for an override mechanism as well as a rethink of the entire process (give us the ability to associate layouts with the reading plan; or to override the layout change altogether).

I too like the way devotionals open the Bible reading. That is good. I do not want to run a passage guide when I open a Bible reading plan though. I usually use the reading view in my Bible reading anyway.

Just to weigh in here: I'm of the opinion that when you click a book link, ONLY that book should open.
If I'm on the home page and I click a book title
1. Don't wipe my current layout. Just open the book into my existing layout.
2. Don't run a passage guide when I open my daily bible reading. (also see #1) If you really want to load a passage guide, go ahead and open a blank one, insert the reference range into the box but do not autorun it. Let me choose to hit run.
3. Don't close any other books when I click a link from the home page (see #1)
I guess I'm not opposed to opening a Bible when I open a devotional, but that should be an option. Make it default behavior if you want, but let me turn it off.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Just don't close anything without my permission!

If the devotional I am using is worth its salt it will have a link in it to open the passage in my prefered by or the bible I already have open and instructed to receive links.
I to do no like what has been done here. I don't need a passage guide open for a general reading plan and if I need any other window say a power lookup I will access that when need from right click menu. Logos I can actually think for myself you are going overboard at the moment with all this automation. We would like the ability to consent as to whether or not we personally need traning wheels rather than having them forced on us and no ability to remove them.

I think this is the issue Andrew. I want the option to TURN OFF any and every type of automation. (Especially the autochecking/autofilling of handouts).
