Reverse Interlinears: a request

Since the Interlinear NA27 is still available, I'd appeal to retain the ESV reverse interlinears in 4.0 The single line scan that is now available makes quick scanning of a passage in the reverse interlinear impossible. In fact I can't see a whole verse at a time. I would be happy to retain what you have provided, but make the old reverse interlinear (ESV at least) available as a separate resource, please. I found it to be a quick help to someone whose Greek is pretty rusty and whose Hebrew is about gone.

I agree completely. The interlinear effect is almost completely lost. And I can't seem to get the "interlinear" part of the verse to show up starting at the far left. See my screenshot - clicking on the first word of a verse gets it started in the middle.

It's confusing, and not very helpful, IMO. I'd settle even for the Greek MSS appearing under the English text with the rest of the information on the bottom.

I agree. II like the "new," but I prefer to also have the Reverse Interlinear as a stand alone product. I like being able to see large amount of texts at a time and also by just rolling my mouse along, instantly seeing the grammatical information that I am looking at.

I've mentioned that a couple of times; that ability would really build a bridge between the 'go back to v3" and the "this is fine" crowd. (in my mind at least)

And of course have the interlinear actually follow the scrolling text. [:O]

I think that the best would be to keep the new way of having it as a bottom line, but to have a separate resource available exactly as it was in V3. For me it was much better to have it next to each other (ESV and ESV Reverse Interlinear) in the arrow click and to be able to go to the Interlinear as a linked resource or separated (not linked) just to find whatever I needed to be found. If the resources exist, why not offer them alternately for a separate use. I found with a new system that the best way for me to get to the quick language (and other) info about the word is to have Information panel opened all the time (I love it by the way) and as you move through the text, you see what you need. It is better than a line at the bottom with one gloss. But if I, for any reason, need to open Reverse Interlinear, I should have it as a separate resource. That's my little thought on that.

FWIW, I don't like the new implementation of the reverse interlinears either. To me, it misses the whole point of what an interlinear is supposed to do, since you can't even read a whole verse/paragraph/pericope in interlinear fashion.

I vote for --at the very least-- making the current implementation (i.e., Logos version 3) an option.

I really like the current interlinear option in the ESV. As I've said elsewhere, it made me tingly when I saw it. Great idea, great innovation, I would cry if it went away, but I do think a valid case is made that we should also be able to open the reverse interlinears as separate resources. Is there a technical reason why this would be difficult? As things stand it is possible to open multiple copies of a resource, why not of an interlinear?

Chris I don't want the new format to go away for the very reason people like you like it, but I am with the others who want ot be able to read and markup the reverse interlinear the as a separte resource. The new format is fine if you just want to check up on something quickly a word or phrase, here or there....its like a status bar replacement (which I am glad no longer seems to exist)...but its not useful for applying visual filtering or extensive reading of the text on a wider context. .

Count my vote for the verse that you hilight appearing as the first word in the interliner. As it is now, it moves further left as the window gets smaller, but this means that it moves depending on the window size. I hate things that move from where you expect them to come up.

MS did this with the "Smart" menus in office for a time. It was always the first thing I turned off.

I agree with most of the sentiment here. I recently wrote a whole article about Rev. Interlinears for my column with CCMag. The form in v. 4 would make it much less desirable. WordSearch jumped on this bandwagon and have a nice HCSB Rev. Int. and I would most likely go use that one before using the new format in Logos if it stays this way.

We definately need the interlinear resources to be available as separate recources. I don't see why this should be a problem for the developers.

I used the reverse interlinears often in v.3 and they were so helpful. It would be quite a loss not to have them as separate resources.

The new reverse interlinear is nice - you can click on a word in the surface layer and get the meta data in the box below, but the standard interlinear format (LDLS 3) is essential for glancing over a passage and seeing the structure or finding a specific element of the syntax. It would be nice to have the "Interlinear" button become a selection of the two formats - box (new format) or in-line (old/standard format). I think the same would be nice for standard Greek and Hebrew interlinear bibles too (LGNTI, LHI, NA27 w/GRAMCORD, Int., etc.)

Can we have the Louw Nida reference number added when available as a meta data layer to all interlinear (forward and reverse) Bibles? Having the Strong's number is nice, but the LN reference is much more helpful, especially when it is a specific reference like in the Lexham SGNT and Lexham NT Graphs.

I am not too keen on this interlinear at the bottom. I typically prefer the interlinear to be my primary resource, not a secondary as this displays it. I like to work from the interlinear and then check the NRSV to see if I understand my translations correctly. I really don't like being forced to work from the English as the primary source.

I'm with you on this! I like the right click original language meta data without having to show Interlinear text. But the new pane/box needs to be more dynamic as has been suggested elsewhere.

Another way to look at this is that the reverse interlinears are resources purchased by the users (through the upgrade to L3). They are not program features, add-ins or anything else that might be considered part of the free operating system.

On this basis we should at least have access to these in L4. We did pay for them and Logos' policy has always been to make access to previously purchased resources available in new versions, so this is a normal expectation to have.

I am not asking for extra features or support, just access to the resources I did pay for.

I missed the celebration. Still I hope it is not the cluttered thing we now have just more lines on the page, but very much like the old reverse interlinear.
