If they know when they are able to release it, that means Apple has already approved it. I don't know why they would wait another 10 days if it's already been approved. It isn't like they could do any updates to the program, since they would have to go through the Apple approval process to update the program.
What purpose would delaying the release of a finished product serve? I am hoping/thinking that it might be 10 hours when it first appears in the app store. We'll see though.

tsk tsk. you are all off track. they just signed Bo Derek to their tech team. can't believe you are all jumping to such wild conclusions . . .

Now is this an exercise in speculative theology, or just an exercise for speculative theologians?
Just asking.

I'm really disappointed in all of you. It's clearly a message in binary. You are fixated on the number 10 but it's the binary numeral 10 which has a decimal value of 2. It would be very odd to begin a countdown with '2' so this is most likely something else. My guess? It's an affirmation of Logos' commitment to the customer. Logos is 1 company and I am 1 customer but together we are 2 and without the customer Logos is nothing. Thus Logos is 2.

Hey, Chris, you must be whether a philosopher or a theologian. To say simple thing like 10 in such a complicated way. [:)]

It cannot mean that it's 10 days until Apple approves the app... there's no way for a developer to know this (some developers wait a month or more with no information on their app's approval process - it's all up to Apple). Also, if it was available now (already approved by Apple) you would find it in the app store, the developer cannot hold it up and release it when they want... that's part of the problem with the app store approval process.
However, that said, I don't even think it's an iPhone app.... my guess is that it's a mobile website.
I would guess that http://m.logos.com is going to be the site you go to on your mobile device. and that might be launching in 10 days? This way you are not downloading any content to your device... it stays on their servers... your just viewing it in a mobile framework. Not saying that is good or bad.. just what I assume this will be.

A publisher could wait 10 days. When you send in an application you can choose a release date. Most app publishers don't change said release date from the default, therefore the app appears as soon as it gets approved.
For a game such as Madden and others that need to be released on a certain day, however, they set the release date for the date they want it to first appear in the store. Then, following it's approval, it doesn't actually appear in the store until the predetermined date.
The thing is, it doesn't make sense for Logos to delay their program. Why would you delay making money on your app?
That is, unless they are still working on having all of the available resources available online so they can be downloaded onto the device, and therefore need a bit more time (10 days) to set that up. Although I don't imagine Apple approving the app without that already being in place.
If I had to guess, I think the app will be in the app store sooner than 10 days. There are plenty of reasons why it should be, and not many reasons as to why it shouldn't be.

One word: MARKETING.
As a former undergrad in marketing major I recognize the marketing department in full swing here.
This isn't about making money today, it's about maximizing hype, ripening public discussion, generating a greater level of anticipation and thereby making the most of a release.
This thread, as much as anything is evidence that it's working.

Mr. Black is right. The curiosity and anticipation this thread represents is exactly why it would not be surprising for logos to delay the launch of their mobile app.

Since Logos has no real control over when apple releases the iphone/ipod app, it would seem to me the count down is for something within their control.
It could be that they launch m.logos.com for non-iphone devices, or something like a 4.0 early beta... that would be cool

Definitely something within Logos' control...so probably not an iPhone app. I'm leaning more towards the Mobile Logos website m.logos.com.

Well... beta.logos.com has changed from an "under maintenance" to an error screen... It would make sense to launch L4 and mLogos at the same time too...

Sorry guys, I really don't expect a mobile web app. It's possible they are developing one and not breathing any hints, but as far as I've seen there has been no indication of something of this sort. An iPhone/iTouch app is guaranteed. I'm hoping the countdown is for that, though as others have mentioned I'm not sure how Logos would control when it shows up in the App store. Guess I'm not the only one visiting the App store every day looking for Logos.

One can hope, but if Hank the Heretic....I mean Hanegraff has his way, Jesus isn't coming back until 2011...[:(]
Perhaps it is a major update to the MAC engine?

Is this kind of stuff really necessary? It would be so much better if on a Christian Bible software forum we didn’t have to have this kind of name calling (Heretic, cult).

Well....
A) its true
New Testament authors, like John and Paul, call out their opponents and deliver some choice words. Consider John. He calls those who deny Christ liars and Antichrists (1 Jn 2:22). Paul tells those who trouble the Galatians that he wishes they would castrate themselves (Gal 5:12)
May not be the best place to make such a statement, but it doesn't change the fact that it is true.

Hmmm.... a sale on WBC you say? I thought everyone that wanted WBC already had it? [:)] I could be convinced to make a special deal for WBC 59 for a few copies. I just put my inventory order in to stock the shelves—if you want a special deal on WBC 59 right now, make me a reasonable offer and I'll see what I can do for the forum readers.

I'm personally hoping it's a countdown to the announcement of a new Library Builder collection for the holidays. After taking 2008 off, maybe Santa Prichett is feeling a bit more jolly this year. Ho ho ho!

Hey Dan, Accordance have it on sale for $399. Is that a fair price? I would be interested if it is offered on sale.
Many thanks,
