Word by Word Settings Q:
I was wondering if there was a setting by which the default data result for a passage word by word study would only render the verses collapsed with the option of expanding the verse for deeper study?
Currently the exegetical guide only results in every word broken out... I thought it might shorten search time and allow me to scroll faster?
If not that's ok. Just curious if there was something I was missing.

Yes, sort of.
Open your guide to a passage, collapse everything and close it. Next time you use the guide it should open at the passage but collapsed. Unfortunately you have to remember to collapse everything . :-)

Hi David,
You can limit the Word by Word results by changing its Settings. The default is "Show all words" and "Show all parts of speech."
When you hover over the right side of the Word by Word section bar, Settings will appear. Click on that drop-down to modify the results. You can then add results for additinal words by clicking on a word in the passage.

Thanks for your tip. However, David's question suggests and improvement to the program. Can you pass this along as a wish list for Logos for Mac?
It would be very helpful to have the option of having the "word by word" section of the exegetical guide open with each verse listed, but collapsed, as David has demonstrated. This would speed up the process for the end users Bible study.

Getting Started with Logos page has Home Page + First Steps that includes: "Tip: Forum PAINFUL SCROLLING ... has an Exegetical Guide tweak – remove Word by Word section for faster scrolling (especially with Bible Books and Chapters). Option: create a custom guide with Word by Word section – use when want detailed report for a verse (or two) with 5 links for every word (lemma, morphology, and 3 dictionaries) plus “more >>” link to expand dictionary list and populate Bible Word Study (BWS) usage count for each lemma (clicking lemma opens BWS for lemma in a new tab)."

In current implementation, personally wish for Word by Word removal from default Exegetical Guide. If enter one verse on Logos 4 Home Page, then press GO, Word by Word is usable. However, entering a chapter on Home Page, then GO is painfully slow while Word by Word populates for every word in every verse. As a Logos user with Many Volunteer Posts (MVP), concur with Word by Word default modification for collapsed verses, with option to expand one verse at a time.Keep Smiling [:)]
