Best Buy network and Logos "religion" site

I was at Best Buy last night to look at the new iPad 2, and in order to see how well it worked with what I'd most use it for, I launched Safari and went to Biblia.com

And I got a screen message saying that the site was blocked because the site had to do with "religion," which is not allowed to be viewed on BB's Internet access.

So I tried to go to Logos.com.

Same thing - site blocked because it had to do with "religion."

    Eric,

I believe this post violates our forum guidelines.  We are asked to treat others as they are in our front room.  I see calling Best Buy Atheists just because you disagree with their business practice as a violation of this guideline.

    EDIT:

    Edit again:

It's amazing what some people consider offensive out in the business world. "religious" websites is one of those things.  The old saying goes that religion and politics are "taboo" topics because they're inflamatory.  I suspect this is Best Buys policy.  IMHO it would have been funny if you checked out some political websites to see if they were blocked too.

It's amazing what some people consider offensive out there.  But in many places religion and politics are "taboo" topics because they're inflamatory.  I suspect this is Best Buys policy.  IMHO it would have been funny if you checked out some political websites to see if they were blocked too.

I also wondered if they block political websites. I personally find Hollywood offensive but doubt BB blocks any of that.  I applaud their efforts not to offend and give them a little leeway to err on the side of caution. I take my kids in there with me and some people would undoubtedly surf porn sites on the demo computers if BB did not block them. (They even do that in the public library.)

I once tried using BB's computers to check a competitor's prices online to be sure I was getting a good deal. That website was blocked too.

This is an interesting example of presuppositional apologetics in action, whether you can have neutral middle ground or not is an area explored to great depth (whether you agree with it or not) by Van Til in his excellent Logos resources.

My title was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Sorry it was taken as being offensive. But when you block "religion" you are essentially saying "no" to "religion," which is one definition of atheist. Maybe I should have titled it Best Buy Infidels. [H]

Again, it was meant as a joke. If any of you know how to edit the title of my thread, feel free to do so to remove the "A" word. Thanks!

Well, to stay correct, the term has to be 'secular' or 'secularist', since it is definitely possible to be atheist and religious at the same time.

I do not know if you can still edit it but try using the "More / Edit"  tab on the top right of your first post. If the thread title shows up you should be able to edit.

If you add "humanist" to that you get another religion.

At least the US Supreme Court ruled secular humanism is a religion.

I wonder if  Al Jazeera is blocked at BB...............   الجزيرة نت

While there is some truth to this, I was referring to a not so wide concept of 'religion'. :)

Al Jazeera is a news outlet like Fox News and NPR.

Yeah, that is what I am told.  [*-)]    But all three of them are religiously biased in some fashion. I just thought of that one when the word "infidel"  surfaced. I just think you will find more tolerance in the Logos resources than you will on any of those news outlets.  (or at Best Buy)
