Library Rating

I am trying to go through and rate some books to sort them by rating.  And I was expecting to be able to sort by Type and then rate the books there.  But when I click on the rating stars in the detailed view list, they do nothing.  Is this by design or a bug?

Once your done rating them, switch to the list view and then click on the rating column header. If you do not see a column for rating right click on the heading bar, and select it from the list. When you click on one of the headings it will sort it by that column.

I can't do it either, and I would also like to.  I haven't heard either way (bug or design), but others have requested to be able to do it in the detailed view.  You can open up the info pane in the detailed view and do it there, but it's much slower and an extra click.

Is there any way to rate a selected set of books? When I rated WBC I have to rate them book by book (59 times). Any suggestion to a quicker way?

Yes, you can select them use shift-click or ctrl-click and the info pane will have an option to apply a rating to all the selected resources.

Thanks! I know there must be a way but I didn't look in the info pane.

Thanks.  It was not that I was confused about this.  I was requesting that they allow rating in the other view.

Oh, I see. I agree. In fact I think rating and tags should be all over the place. I shouldn't have to go to the library to set them. However I don't see this as a negative as much as my preference. :-)

Is there a way to rate a book as read? It would be nice to know which books in my library I have finished reading and be able to sort by read/not read.

You could tag it as "read".

Was the ability to rate resources in both library views ever added? It seems it is still impossible to do so in RC5... [:(]

The only way to do it in the "details" view is to open up the info panel, and do it there.

For me the following way is quite easy and efficient. You can tag multiple books, you can add rating etc.

    Bohuslav, Philip and others :

HOW are you selecting like this?

I try every way I know and it is not working.

    Click "on" something opens it.

    Right click just highlights one

I cannot get a "group" like this.

(Philip this is probably at the heart of my "collection" woes - I think you made a comment about being able to selecting a group in order to 'tag" them? I cannot make it  work as you describe it)

    What am I missing?

    Steve

[Edit] the  following suggestion from the help file is NOT working - they do not "select" they merely "open"

(Tip: To select a consecutive series, select the first book, hold the Shift key down, then select the last book. To select nonconsective books, hold the Ctrl key down as you click on each.)

Is there something "wrong" with my Keyboard and mouse?

To select non-consective books, hold the Ctrl key down as you click on each

-- at the very most I can do this with only 2 and they have to be side by side.

Instead of clicking on the name of the book, which will open the book, try clicking on the authors name. Then press Shift + Up or Down to add other books to the selection.

Stephen, I am sorry I did not explain it better. If you click on the name of the book, it opens the book . If you click on any other field in the line, it works as you need. (When you see a little hand, it opens, when you see just an arrow, it selects the item.) Just try it. It is one of those "special" characteristics of Logos4 [:)]

    That was NOT intuitive!~!!

Thank you Philip and Bohuslav (and for answering so quickly!)

Logos: CAN You edit the help file to reflect this?

good idea. I have found myself often clicking the name and jumping to the resource. Maybe having an "edit mode" in the library options drop down menu would be a good idea. After closing library it would revert back to selection mode.

Now that you have helped me do this - and then clicking on the 'info" button - a lot of this stuff makes sense -- before I was only getting one books "info" at a time.
