PBB sharing test
Here is a small PBB file with just Scripture, some headings, and minimal formatting which I'm posting to see if it is possible to share PBBs with others. If you have the PC Beta on your computer you might try downloading this file and scanning the file using the SCAN command to see if it transfers in. I'd be interested in a report.
EDIT: I have removed the file so no one else has trouble trying to use it.

Arggh! I tried it, but Logos crashed when I exited it after executing the scan command. Now it crashes every time I exit, and the book you created is not in my Library. Here are the crash logs: 0724.Crash20110601b.zip
I was able to get out of the cycle of crashing by booting with the Ctrl key down, forcing a login. But still no PBB from you.
I think they haven't yet finished the sharing mechanism, and I am guessing it is going to have something to do with that unique filename. So it won't just work by copying the file from one machine to another.

If you look at the header of the file, it's tied to your user ID as well.

Hi Mark,
I've tried on the Mac, it has a go but the indexing seems to fail. Logs attached.

Well, sorry for any trouble this created. I'd suggest we quit testing at this point.
It seems PBBs are at this point separate resources, but can't be shared. We'll need more clarification. Logos never responded to the thread in which this was discussed. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/33493.aspx?PageIndex=1
If we can't share them directly we'll have to wait for sharing to be enabled by Logos and use their servers to do so.

Yea, in your Crash log it says "Error ID". SO it looks what we got is private version of PBB builder.
EDITED: Looks I got too excited about those PBBs and did not noticed it is just an Error number (ID) Sorry for the misreading. [:$]

From what I read on the Beta forum (I'm not on Beta myself) it seems that the import is "a piece of cake" once you have the properly formatted *.docx file, thus sharing these instead of the PBB-formatted files would enable everyone to build identical resources by themselves. Just my thoughts.

Yes, but if I want to distribute something to my congregation I don't want them to have to recompile into their own PBB. So sharing actual PBB files is important to me. It appears we will all have to wait until sharing is enabled by Logos to make this possible.

But if you distributed the *.docx file then they would not need Logos 4 to read your words of wisdom. [They could just read the file in Word]

Let's assume there are no words of wisdom from me, but none-the-less the point (of course) of using a PBB is to enable my Logos users to have something extra from me (hopefully in most cases not just words, but links). Clearly I can write my words on a scrap of paper and use a copy machine and avoid Logos and PBB altogether. So, yes, distributing a Word file gets the words out, but no interactivity with Logos. I need the ability to distribute PBB files to have the full benefit from them.
