verse export to Word

Copy Bible Verses has moved from the Windows Taskbar to the Tools menu.  So, select Tools, and then Copy Bible Verses...

Dan you just hit the question many of the Beta Test team are waiting for Team Logos to decide. It does add a lot of wasted clicking between programs and menus. It will work, but going from the ease of use that V3 had with Smart Tags it is a big waste of time...

Smart Tags are one of two features that I am going to continue pressing for in V4... I suggest everyone that uses Smart Tags as the easiest most proficient way of copying verses inside Microsoft Word, let Team Logos know... It may help persuade them to address the situation...

I am completely "underwhelmed" that Logos would do an upgrade that requires so many steps to simply copy a Bible verse.  This absolutely must be corrected.  I also cannot find a print function in this program.  How does one print a page out of a book without copy and paste?

I would 'third' this sentiment!!  I love what I have seen in v. 4 so far, but would it not be bizarre and counter-intuitive to "break" a feature that everyone loved and used in the old version??  Make copying/exporting to Word (or any word processor) dead simple, Guys!!

I appreciate your tip on the shortcut menu. This is nice but still requires you leaving Word. Surely, with a bunch of experts who work for Logos, this would not be such a hard problem.

Smart Tags, Smart Tags, Smart Tags... I know it is frustrating, but just let Team Logos know that the Smart Tags feature is a top priority for you. I can tell you that throughout the Beta process they took into consideration the input of the consumer.

So if they continue to hear that we all miss this feature, I'm sure that it will be given higher priority... We are very important to Team Logos...

I don't understand - if I do a lemma search on hamartano, I get results in 37 NT verses: how do I select that entire list to get it into the copy verses dialogue? It seems like I can only get one verse at a time into it.

As far as Smarttags are concerned, I love them. They work great in 2007 although I have no way to test them in the upcoming 2010 version. If possible, I'd love to get these back.

I think the most helpful update re: copy to a document would be to offer three options

1. task bar as in logos 3

2. smart tags

3. Cntl alt function to input multiple verses.

Then make all three options selectable in the system preferences

My thinking on copy and past is a little different.

Currently copy and past is either nonexistent - or where it is implemented it's behavior varies from tool to tool.

The type of copy and past behavior I like the best is how it is done in the information tool.

In the picture above I am able to ctrl + click as many articles or verses as I want and then copy them in one click.

The only thing I would add to this is a copy and paste button on the right like there is in the "copy bible verse tool" (see below)

It would be essential (I think) for this Idea to work for the "copy bible verse tool" (pictured above) to have the settings set by a drop down menu from the copy and paste icon.

So now all of your tools would have the same copy and paste behavior.  For example if you did a lemma search for the word δίδωμι you would get the following:

You could now ctrl + select as many verses (or all the verses) click on "copy and paste" (with it set to go directly to your word processor of choice)  and you are done.

Better yet, you do not have to have the copy bible verse tool open at all to copy and paste directly into Word, OpenOffice, etc.

So to sum up:

1.  Have consistent copy and paste behavior in all tools.

2.  Have "copy" and "copy and paste" and for some tools "select all" icons integrated into the tools.

3.  Have the "copy and paste" icon have a drop down menu so you can select the formating and where it is to be pasted to in all tools.

4.  The selecting of verses in search results would be treated like they are in the current information tool (see markup above)

5.  When setting up formating for the "copy and past" behavior there should be a setting to retain the highlighting.  This would make life a lot easier.

I would like to see something like InstaVerse.  Where I am in word I type my verse selection and then press a hot key and it replaces my selection with my selected verse style and version. Please consider this approach.

I endorse this tip. I suspect many haven't figured out yet that they can put some of these features right on the toolbar. Only problem on resources such as books is that a tiny little cover is the icon--cool, but they all tend to look alike. Mouse-over text, however, makes it work. 

I have Copy Bible Verse on my toolbar, as well as a favorite Layout.

I would agree that leaving the CBV as the only copy option available to us would be a step backwords. Probably not quite as big of a step as Frank since smart tags still had to open up V3 once you selected one, but still a step backwards. Now if there is a way to make it happen without opening L4...that would be a huge step forward!

Either icon or system-wide shortcut would work for me, with a mild preference for shortcut. At that point in my weekly work, both Word & Logos are open, but I'm working from Word. Most often, it's to add the complete text of a reference, after I've entered the reference.

Yes. It's easier/faster to drag part of it to another location than to go back thru the steps to copy it over. Much more often, however, I'm copying something like John3:16, 18 than I am John 3:16, Eph 2:8-9. But logically, it's the same problem.

They work fine in Office 2007, everywhere they worked in earlier versions (Word & Power Point).

Yes, this copy to word, multiple verses feature is a must. At our ministry we use it all the time.

I am a long time user of LOGOS (back in the x486 computer days with the original version of your software) and a first time poster to these forums.

It is a huge dissappointment that the CBV feature of L3 did not get an upgrade, but instead, a downgrade. This is an absolutely essential time saver for me personally. Smart Tags are important to me too. Let me try and explain how I use these features to maybe help some and then, if I might, offer a suggested feature for all office documents that would be just phenomonal.

I use the CBV to copy a long list of verses, sometimes as many as 30 passages into what I call "Scripture Sheets" for sermons. Sometimes I hand these out, other times they are for my speedy reference while in the pulpit or in front of the class. Obviously, this requires the ability to copy and paste multiple verses at one time. It is a huge time saver, in contrast to going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. The only thing better would be not having to retype the list of verses from my sermon outline into the CBV to paste into my "Scripture Sheet", but more on that in a sec. Being able to copy and paste multiple verses in one shot is huge time saver and an essential feature for me.

Please revisit this feature and add to the features of the L3 version or simply implement the L3 feature back into the L4 app. Please do not remove any functionality from the L3 version when it is upgraded. Whether it is on the system tray or in the L4 app is secondary to me, as long as it is there, available and functioning.

The only improvement I would make is to allow a type of autolist feature based on Bible references in an office document. For instance, if I type a sermon outline with just the Bible reference at the end of my points, Smart Tags already identifies the references. It would be absolutely wonderful .... an incredible time saver ... to be able to click a button (macro) or link and have all of my cited Bible references in that particular document show up in some type of "Lookup List" in LOGOS 4 that I can cut and paste from (even multiple verses at a time) in a single swoop. Then I would not have to reenter the references into the CBV at all. They would be all looked up in a single list ready to go for me, formatted based on my current CBV settings. This would be amazing! I can see something like this working for what many above have suggested their use is too.

I have to say, I concur with the sentiments expressed by all here when I say thanks for a wonderful product! Thanks for listening to our feedback! AND thanks in advance for upgrading the CBV functionality in LOGOS 4 as soon as humanly possible. This is so essential that I think it deserves a hotfix, or update, all of its own at the nearest possible date, rather than waiting to deploy it with a bigger update. I hate that now I have to use both L3 and L4 until this feature is fixed. The L3 CBV is a huge, huge, huge feature for me and a monumental time saver.
