I am sorely disappointed!
I'm not a avid forum watcher although I check the threads everyday and read a bit. Like you I have waited a long time for PBB capabilities and was so exited to update tonight to get that capability. However, I just realized that the MANY PBB's I had in L3 are no good to me without MEGA hours of painstaking work to convert and format. With L3 I had an update application with StillTruth that downloaded hundreds of books and kept them all up to date. One click and voila, they were there. I feel like I've been given a new Mercedes without the keys!
Can anyone help me?

This really depends on the original contributors being able to make the conversion and either distributing the docx files (via StillTruth?) or the resources (Logos?). If truly Public Domain distributing docx files to compile is OK. See following:

The good news is that they don't work because the format is better! They now work just like Logos books.
And they can be created from the same base text that the L3 PBBs were made from. So it should just be a matter of time and effort before the StillTruth PBBs are remade. We just need to get the original files that they were made from.
And then they will work better than the L3 PBBs ever did with full searching, indexing, and markup capabilities.

Yeah the new PBB is more and it is less. Functionality is potentially greatly improved and it is free, but as you discovered, no easy conversions.
At some point Logos intends to allow sharing of PBBs, so you can get what others have done at that point.

Simple books can be created with minimal fuss using styles in MS Word 2007 and above.

You can call it "converting" the old files if you want, but in reality, you will have to convert the source and then recompile. Not a lot different than starting from scratch.

I didn't do the beta nor the older Libronix PPB.
But just looking at the wiki and the simple PPB help file, it looks to me like it could be automated pretty easily. Most of my books are in Laridian's book builder that's essentially html, so it's a simple process to import them into Word and then add some of the Logos PPB features.
For me, that'll bring in my 30-40 thousand notes, several gigabytes of syntactical pattern matching, etc. Even Jefferson's 1811 and 1819 'Bibles'. Plus I have 30-40 custom parsers already, to convert text/PDFs to tagged html.
I guess this might work. If so, it could really move Logos4 up a solid notch for analyzing the text.

I really want to spend some time redesigning the site.
I really need to spend some time fixing database corruption.
I already have spent some time working with the original builders. One of my goals is to get the source files coupled up with their respective posts so that both L3 and L4 docx sources are available.
Randy (The PBB Updater author) has already contacted me during the beta to plan for such an event - I put it on the backburner because as of yet there has been little movement - partly because I'm swamped - and partly because the original compilers are swamped. And mostly because I'm not sure what and how much will be needed. Randy's time is as valuable as mine and I don't want to send him on a multi week programming spree for something that won't be necessary.
Right now there are hopes and plans in place, but it won't be instant (and it won't be this week!) I'm in need of a lull on my side so I can devote the time needed to re-engineer the site and get it ready for this next stage. I've been wanting to do this for months but....
The wrench in the works is the planned distribution store for PBB's that Logos is building. I have not been in on the in crowd with that one, so there is a large bit of reticence on my part to devote dozens or hundreds of hours on site rebuilding only to discover in the end that it was unnecessary because Logos did it better.
I know there will continue to be a use for Stilltruth's distribution of L3 PBB's and there will be a need for Public Domain L4 docx source files. I just don't know how best to serve that need right now without doing needlessly repetitive work.
All I ask for is your patience. All I can offer is my assurance that as soon as I see a clear path, I'll take it.

As a compiler of PBBs who donated to Stilltruth, I now have the following 3 books ready to be released for L4 when the time comes to do so:
- Grace and Glory by Geerhardus Vos.
- The Teaching of Jesus Concerning the Kingdom of God and the Church by Geerhardus Vos.
- E.W. Hengstenberg's commentary on Ezekiel.
I am working on converting the other 40+. It is no small task, but the good news is that only retagging of certain Bible references is necessary in my case. Much of the work that went in to creating the L3 PBBs can be leveraged so that it will not take as long to finish the L4 versions as it did to create the L3 versions.
I, too, am waiting to see what Logos' distribution system will be for the compiled files that I have. Tom has contacted me about releasing the source files to the books I have created so others can compile them, but at this point I would rather distribute the compiled Logos-ready resources.

That is doable but it would involve recompiling the file each time. Although it is done only once by the user, in the grand scheme of things it is done thousands of times versus once. The wasted man-hours is so unnecessary.

I hear and agree George. That will be the minimum. I'm musing over things that go beyond that somehow. As Matthew indicates - each one will have to be recompiled every time by every user. IF that's what has to be than fine. But I'm still pondering the options.

I must confess, my first real venture into Libronix was because of the PBB files I discovered on StillTruth. I had several boxed Logos 2,0 titles and even Vrsion 1.6. But I did not get excited untill I saw the PBB collection.

I have like you a number of books in PDF and Doc, just converting them over to docx and I will have my set of books available, advice I need is where do I put them for others to get the benefit, obviously I would like to make these books available. Any advice would be greatly received.

Tom Black's stilltruth site (URL in his post just above yours) has served as a repository for personal books from the days of L3, and I understand that he intends to update the site for L4 PBBs. He needs a little time because its still prime weather for golf (DON'T HIT ME TOM!). Also, I believe I recall some mention of Logos also hosting a site for exchange of personal data like sermons and PBBs.... Or possibly that's just sanctified wish list item of my own.

Logos is going to provide the facility for sharing files - with some limitations. I think the best thing to do is wait and see.
