Resource Links in PBB

.docx formatting... easy
header assignment... simple
PB book cover... fun to make!

links to other resources in Logos... I'M STUCK!

I consider myself a somewhat capable code writer, and I've read over all the wiki information more times than I count.

Picture me as your Great Great Uncle Hubert... guide me through the resource linking in PBB please!

*note - I notice all my links in my .docx file change from what the wiki recommends:

[[Page i >> logosres:jabhistprch;ref=Page.p_i]]

to something similar to:

"file://localhost/%5B%5BPage%20i%20%3E%3E%20logosres/jabhistprch%3Bref=Page.p_i%5D%5D"

... I'm pretty sure this is not good.

When - at what stage in the process - do the links change from what is in the wiki (which I assume is what you have in your .docx file - to the "file..." reference you show?

Graham, this occurs as soon as I hyperlink them in the .docx document. Are we suppose to be hyperlinking in Word or is there another way to apply links?

I don't quite understand!

All you need to do is enter the reference as shown on the wiki as normal text in the Word document and the PB compiler will generate the appropriate link to the resource in the PB.

Ok I think we're on the right track.

I was able to get one of three working

[[*
>> logosres:jabhistprch;ref=Page.p_49]] - this one works perfectly. It links the * to page 49 of my Broadus resource as well as showing a preview when the cursor hovers over it

[[Principles
and Practices of the Baptists >> logosres:MB_WAYL1;art=LOGO]] - it shows the entire link code but the second half is a clickable link that takes me where I want it to go. Are the bold and italics causing this one not to work?

of Preaching: >> logosres:JABHISTPRCH;ref=Page.p_i]] - This one just flat out doesn't work. The whole link code is visible and nothing is actually clickable. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.

On the last two I capitalized the resource names and the word "LOGO" thinking I was following the wiki.

Any help would be much appreciated

Change the label "History of Preaching" so it doesn't have the Bold or Italic formatting and it works!

It might be - but I am getting slightly different results because I don't have that resource (which is why I responded to your third point first!) Try removing Bold and Italics and see what you get.

Graham, you were right. The bold and italics removed did the trick. Thanks so much for wading through all this. I feel like I'm in the driver's seat now!

ks4j - I'm not sure where I copied that code from. I think it may have been from my word file. My version on Word is registered to me with my school as the company.

This isn't a bug. Consistent formatting of syntax is necessary, but it was not properly documented in Help or the Personal Books Tool support article as it should have been. I've added it to the article FAQs and it will be added to Help.

Hi Melissa - thanks for responding.

I am working on converting the assignments I have written at Bible College into PB format.

The issue I am having here is to do with footnotes in these assignments where we are required to use a format as shown below:

The first one shows a normal footnote where we have:

Author in normal type
Book title in italics
Page numbers in normal type

The next four show how I reformat those so that they link directly to the appropriate Logos resources.

I could, clearly, change the text in the label to all use normal type but then when I hover over them in the generated Personal Book they are not consistent with our regular style guides nor with the footnotes that I am not converting as I don't have the associated resources.

The best way to accomplish this currently is to use Word Hyperlinks. To do this you would type the text to display, such as "Michaels, J. Ramsey, 1 Peter, 282," select the text, right-click in selection, and paste the "logosres" link as the Address.

When I hover over this footnote in the compiled document I get what I would expect

However, if I then click on that popup (to get to the resource), the popup changes and I can't click on it to get to the resource
