HELP!! Logos rebuilds Index every time it Launches.

After installing 4.3.5 and downloading the Perseus collection I decided to rebuild my entire library index. I let logos index over night and when I woke up it was complete...However now every time I launch the program in rebuilds my entire library index. Any solutions??

My software crashed when I got the Civil War collection. It was an index crash so I just rebuilt my index. It took all night and into the next day. When the other Perseus collections downloaded the index took about 15 mins. Big difference in a total rebuild versus a periodic index. Make sure it's building the entire index over each time. My software had indexed 6 times in the last 4 days so it may appear to be rebuilding everytime. But it's really not.

Indexer.log has many messages about logging not being enabled. Would like to look at diagnostic logs (especially Indexer.log)

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac includes link to 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip (display logging setting, then optionally change); also links to Logos Log Scribe (create zip file of Logging folder with copy of console messages)

I'll bring a third to this. (Not the picking up the kids though) Its almost as if the reindexing just isn't remembered or stored. Until it starts working again my entire library is unsearchable. [W]

My system is wanting to index every time after I installed the 3rd Perseus update. Haven't tried rebuilding the index yet...

With diagnostic logging enabled, can look at Indexer.log to see if => BUG: Opening "Handbook of Contemporary Preaching" crashes is causing indexer to crash, which would cause Logos to rebuild Index every time (since indexing did not complete due to crash).

Actually, the failure is running PC software on a mac. The crash is in Mono, the .NET CLR runtime used to run much of Logos. So I guess we could get software that actually runs on a mac? [H]

I was able to successfully index my computer today. Go figure. It failed to index properly at least 10 times.

Same here...my indexer stops after 5-10% and then after restarting Logos it starts over again. No problems until all the Perseus collections downloads.

Yep, it's a cross-platform emulation layer [ugh] running on top of an abstraction framework layer [phew]. The entry price to get Logos 4 on the Mac, no other choice apparently.

p.s. Re: Macs & Steve Jobs' contribution to computing this post should make it pretty clear what I think.

It successfully indexed after about the 10th try. (A full reindex from the command window). I debated upgrading to JG but did this morning and it indexed in about 10-15 min. no problem. So persistence is the key I guess.

I have been having indexing problems as well. But when I read these posts I discovered that many of you have already had Perseus downloads. I have not. They are indicated as being available on my account from Sept 30, but they are still in the Open Order category and not in the Order History category. What's the deal? Are they just staggering the distribution?

Yes. It will take up to three weeks for everyone to be given the "green light" to download. Otherwise Logos servers would catch on fire. [;)]
