no index - rebuild index doesn't work - all searches no results..

I am using Logos4 Mac since the beginning but now I do not seem to have an index and I can not rebuild it by using the ' rebuild index' command. See also screenshot. Searches do not have any results although is tells me that indexing is running..but no indexing icon or indexing activity in the activity monitor is being seen

I deleted all instances of Libaryindex.db but not avail..
I followed all the KS4J steps in the wiki uninstalling and reinstalling (except deleting resources folder) but no avail

When Logos4 Mac start the indexer icon appears for a second or so and then disappears.

Using latest version 4.3 SR-5 (4.30.0.1603)

I am not a techie, so I will let someone else respond more directly to your problem. I was wondering, however, when did you first notice this problem?

When Logos4 Mac start the indexer icon appears for a second or so and then disappears.

Indexer is crashing, console messages shows logging not enabled for indexer. Unfortunately, Logos4.log and Indexer.log files lack crash information.

Wonder about enabling diagnostic logging using => 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip then launch Logos 4 Mac. Once blue icon disappears, close Logos 4 Mac, then use Logos Log Scribe to archive files, followed by uploading new archive.

Observation: rebuild index command deletes then builds bible index and library index (that have corresponding libraryindex.db files).

KS4J: i noticed that after deleting the Libraryindex.db files they were just regenerated after a restart of Logos. And - perhaps more important - that after following all your steps uninstalling and reinstalling Logos everything seems the same with all my layouts and customisation. Perhaps I missed something.?

I don't know since when this problem occurs, no too long ago I was able to do some searches. In the meantime I downloaded Perseus.

I am using Lion 10.7.1

At 06:13:47 on 13 Oct noticed error messages: "Logos Bible Software 4(1215,0xac1cb2c0) malloc: *** mmap(size=2237423616) failed (error code=12)" and "*** error: can't allocate region"

Indexer.log file abruptly ends; comparing to some other Indexer.log files, missing Reverse Interlinear Manager lines that precede opening Bible index.

Wonder about moving files out of Logging folder, then restarting Mac, after blue icon disappears, then use Logos Log Scribe to archive files, followed by uploading new archive.

If blue icon does not appear (no Indexer.log file in Logging folder), then launch Logos 4 Mac, followed by waiting for blue icon to disappear.

Option: can open Indexer.log while indexer running to see what's happening.

Pushed files out of logging folder, restarted and waited for the blue icon to disappear and made a new archive of logs.

Puzzling: Indexer.log has entries for 6 seconds. Noticed last line in Indexer.log has same timestamp in console messages for: "(com.logos.LogosIndexer[208]) <Warning>: Exited with code: 1" Appears Indexer is abruptly quitting, but not crashing.

Wonder about deleting "/Users/luukdondorp/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/jg5czy8i.pm7/ReverseInterlinearManager\reverseinterlinearmanager.db" (similar to Libraryindex.db deletion already done) ?

Launch Logos 4 Mac (optionally to a blank layout), wait for blue icon to disappear, close Logos 4 Mac, then upload new archive of logs.

Here are my new logs:

Looked at second set of logs; Indexer.log had entries for couple seconds (may not have appeared in menu bar).

Initial thought: indexing on Windows should not affect MacBook indexing. Noticed in Logos4.log file, key link manager needs updating (so not know if sync has any adverse indexing interaction).

Concur with idea for complete uninstall of Logos 4 on MacBook; optionally could copy Resources folder to use with scan command (quicker than downloading everything).

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => Uninstalling and Reinstalling in Logos 4 Mac has steps (including link option for copying Resources).

For Windows, wonder if temp folder has some stuff that can be deleted. Also wonder about turning off hibernation while indexing.

Tried three times to uninstall / install with the resources folder saved on my desktop. Followed all your steps of the wiki pages. Restarting, emptying trash and so on

Nothing: no indexing and no searching: zero results. Starting logos shows the blue icon for a second of two. There was no indexing at all.

Rebuild index command did nothing.

Even deleted completely Logos4 from my windows Vista computer (which was indexing forever) I did not use this one anyway for a long time. No results.

I do not hope I am stuck with a crippled Logos.

Thought a complete reinstall would restore it, but it seems nothing is changed.

Last hope: complete reinstall plus complete re-download..

Any better ideas?

After blue icon disappears in step 8, could close Logos 4 Mac. Hoping for Indexer.log to have many more lines.

If indexing failure repeats, could post new set of logs, then try complete reinstall with re-download.

These were all the steps I already did...three times.

Noticed several crashes, making me doing it all over again and again.

In the logs I followed I could see that the resources were discovered, something about an image which couldn't be made and that LibraryCatalogindexer was cancelled.

I will do this just one more time: providing logs for each step when possible and applicable. Will do this tonight after my workday. And will afterwards contact Logos Support.

Providing logs where applicable is a good idea

Apologies: personally am puzzled (along with wondering what is needed to get Logos 4 Mac working).

Could see if Apple has any software update(s) before trying once more to uninstall then install Logos 4 Mac.
